🚨 100 PPM H₂S: IDLH HAZARD 🚨

🔥 HOOK:
“100 PPM H₂S can turn a normal work area into a life-threatening atmosphere. Would you know what to do?”

☠️ H₂S TRAINING | STEP-BY-STEP

01️⃣ Detect
📟 Always monitor the atmosphere with a calibrated H₂S detector.

02️⃣ Alarm
🚨 If the detector alarms, STOP WORK immediately.

03️⃣ Don’t Rely on Smell
👃 Never use your nose to detect H₂S. The sense of smell can disappear at dangerous concentrations.

04️⃣ Move Upwind
🌬️ Move quickly toward a safe area upwind/crosswind, following the site emergency procedure.

05️⃣ Escape Route
🏃 Use the designated emergency escape route and proceed to the muster point.

06️⃣ Alert Others
📢 Warn nearby personnel and raise the site emergency alarm according to procedure.

07️⃣ Never Attempt an Unprotected Rescue
❌ Do NOT enter an H₂S-contaminated area to rescue someone without the required respiratory protection, training and rescue team.

08️⃣ SCBA for Emergency Response
🫁 Trained emergency responders may require SCBA or supplied-air respiratory protection appropriate to the emergency plan.

09️⃣ Account for Personnel
📋 Report to the muster point and allow the emergency team to account for everyone.

🔟 Re-entry
⛔ Never re-enter until the area has been tested, declared safe and authorized by the responsible competent personnel.

⚠️ KEY MESSAGE:
H₂S is highly toxic, can incapacitate rapidly, and smell is NOT a reliable warning.

🎯 TRAIN SMART. DETECT EARLY. ESCAPE FAST.

🛡️ Oxy-fuel safety is not optional! Understanding your equipment is the first step to staying safe.
Many welders use Non-Return Valves (NRV) and Flashback Arrestors (FBA) interchangeably, but their jobs are completely different. Using only an NRV can leave you vulnerable to a serious, high-pressure explosion.
Here’s the step-by-step breakdown of what each one does to keep you safe:
What Happens in an NRV (Left side of video):
1️⃣ Gas Flow: Normal flow travels up from the Inlet Port.
2️⃣ Non-Return: If gas tries to flow backwards, the Pressure Seat and Internal Valve slam closed, stopping backflow.
3️⃣ Backfire: NRV only stops backflow of gases. It does not stop a flame front.
What Happens in an FBA (Right side of video):
1️⃣ Inlet: Flow enters the Gas Chamber.
2️⃣ Double Check: The Non-return mechanism stops backflow.
3️⃣ Flame Quench: If a flame front occurs, the Multi-layer Sintered Filter (copper mesh) quenches the flame by absorbing the heat and stopping its path.
4️⃣ Secondary Filter: The Gray mesh provides another layer of flame prevention.
Remember: One stops only gas; the other stops gas and flames. Never use oxy-fuel equipment without an approved FBA!

Shield up, safety first! 🛡️ Before you strike an arc, you MUST verify your entire setup. This 9-Point Attentive Safety Check isn’t just best practice—it’s your protection.
Don’t risk a setback; follow this simple process for every weld:
Serial Wise Step-by-Step Breakdown:
1️⃣ Step 1: Check your Gas Cylinders. Confirm the test dates, verify the green (Oxygen) and red (Fuel Gas) labels, and ensure the valve cap is fitted during transport.
2️⃣ Step 2: Inspect Pressure Regulators. Use the correct regulator for your gas type and confirm all gauges are functioning correctly with zero leaks.
3️⃣ Step 3: Route your Hoses Properly. Keep them away from sharp edges and hot surfaces. Use red for fuel, blue/green for oxygen, and ensure no cuts or bulges are visible.
4️⃣ Step 4: Use Flashback Arrestors. They MUST be installed on both the oxygen and fuel lines.
5️⃣ Step 5: Clean your Torch and Nozzle. A clear nozzle and functioning valves are non-negotiable.
6️⃣ Step 6: Conduct a Leak Test. A simple soap solution is your best friend. Never, ever use a flame to detect leaks.
7️⃣ Step 7: Prepare the Work Area. Have an extinguisher ready, maintain adequate ventilation, and arrange a fire watch if required.
8️⃣ Step 8: Don proper PPE. We wear the correct safety shoes, flame-resistant clothing, gloves, and face shield—every time.
9️⃣ Step 9: Run an Operational Check. Confirm gas pressures are correct, get a stable flame, and check that valves close properly.

1️⃣ Step 1: Hydrate & Monitor – Drink water continuously and check your urine color regularly. Dark urine means you are already dehydrated.
2️⃣ Step 2: Know the Signs – Learn to identify and treat heat-related illnesses (dizziness, nausea, heavy sweating) before they become emergencies.
3️⃣ Step 3: Eat Balanced Meals – Consume regular, well-balanced meals to keep your stamina and nutrient levels steady.
4️⃣ Step 4: Avoid Canned Beverages – Skip sugary, highly processed canned sodas and energy drinks that can dehydrate you faster.
5️⃣ Step 5: Use the Buddy System – Watch your coworker’s back. Look out for signs of heat exhaustion in each other.
6️⃣ Step 6: Acclimatize Gradually – Slowly increase your workload and exposure to heat so your body builds tolerance over time.
7️⃣ Step 7: Know the Flags – Stay aware of your site’s colored TWL (Thermal Work Limit) flag system and follow the corresponding guidelines strictly.
8️⃣ Step 8: Prioritize Rest & Sleep – Take full advantage of designated break times and get plenty of rest at night to allow your body to recover.
9️⃣ Step 9: Take Electrolytes – Supplement your water intake with electrolytes exactly as instructed by site safety supervisors.
🔟 Step 10: Follow Mid-Day Break Rules – Conform to mandatory mid-day break policies to stay out of high-intensity peak heat hours.
