They say, “be grateful and good things will come to you”.
Does gratitude bring about good things ? Or am I simply grateful because good things are happening to me? Whatever the answer to that question might be, today I am grateful for all the blessings in my life; not only the love and support that my family and friends always offer me, but also all the hardships that pushed me to become stronger and more focused.

Today I am simply resonating with this:
I AM GRATEFUL.

Thank you!

I always believed I was different; in my head it had a good connotation and I thought it served me well.
After a discussion I had with , I can now see a nuance on the subject, and say that I am unique, not different.

I realize now that believing I was different caused a separation anxiety and a constant need for conformity, validation and connection.

I had limited myself to thinking that I would not be approved if I talked or acted in a certain manner.

Today, I set myself free from being different and embrace my uniqueness.

I AM WHO I AM.
I AM UNIQUE.

It's common to hear others pushing us to be the best version of ourselves, as if that is a destination to reach. We get caught in that never-ending process of self-improvement that is never enough. Hence, when we are not achieving tangible results, we are ridden with the guilt that we are not working hard enough to get there.

Guess what, I don't believe we are not doing our best, every moment of our lives. No one would willingly want to inflict upon themselves more pain and suffering.

Sometimes we get frustrated and impatient with the idea of change that we don't take a moment to reflect on how far we grew and evolved from the person we were a while back.

I AM DOING MY BEST.

The world has become a heavy place to live in.
People's lives are endangered, whether by the act of war or illness. For those people I pray for peace 🙏, in their hearts and around them.

However, others are living in crippling fear and anxiety that are sabotaging their development.

I AM SAFE.

Safe from others’ opinion of me and their prejudice, from sickness, from people's expectations, and my own.
Beyond the handcuffs I accepted to put on.
Beyond the box of 'right and wrong'.

Leaving your home country in search of a better life is never an easy decision.

Home is where you hang your hat.
Home is where your heart physically is. Your mind can wander, but your heart is always right there with you.
One way of bringing some relief from the pain of missing home, is putting your hand on your heart and repeating:

I AM HOME

Trust me, it works.

This comes after a series of posts on Pain. I am sharing the following experience here because I believe that pain is multidimensional and not merely physical. At that time, mine was one of despair.
In February 2020 I was going through a time of questioning and I was praying for a sign. I was in Nimes, France when I met this white swan 🦢 on a lake. When I tried to interact with it, it started following me from side to side, dancing to the movements of my arms.
I felt an extraordinary connection and for some reason the French sentence "je cherchais un SIGNE et un CYGNE apparut" made a lot of sense to me.
After that encounter I could feel that something changed. A spark of hope was ignited in me, and despite the fact that the world was plunging into a pandemic, I never lost that hope.

How many times have you lost hope? How often do you look for signs? How watchful are you for answers?

My struggle with migraines (at the age of 15) pushed me to search beyond conventional treatments and medications.
That was when my journey with Traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture began.

I started my academic career as a physical therapist, but the positive effects I experienced with Eastern modalities made me look for additional alternative ways to relieve my pain. My therapist at the time introduced me to yoga, a discipline that made a huge impact on my life, both physically and emotionally, and even spiritually. From then on I continued with rebirthing, hypnotherapy, pranic healing, and more.

I haven’t had migraines for 9 years now.

To validate our chapter on PAIN:
1. Don’t settle for something that doesn’t bring you satisfaction.
2. My own personal experience is a testimony that pain is only temporary, especially when you find ways to meet it halfway and deal with it proactively.

Sunsets are daily reminders that life moves in cycles.

Nothing is permanent; whether you are having a bad day, week or month, it will be over.

There is always a chance for a rebirth the next day, the next cycle.

Like everything else, pain is temporary. Keep your hopes high for better days to come and do your best to know how to change your reality.

Although Yoga offers a big help managing this syndrome, don't forget to talk to your psychologist about it as well!

Yoga can help big time in managing painful episodes.
However, I am not stating here that we practice yoga just for the sake of relieving pain. If we were to do that, i would be taking this old tradition out of context.

In future posts I will be differentiating between getting the therapeutic effects out of a yoga practice and practicing yoga as a therapy.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the body is viewed as a Whole.
Missing this concept and opting for a more partitioned approach would not bring us all the benefits.

Think of the painful place but don't forget to think elsewhere too!
