MARFAN SYNDROME: HOW CAN WE SUPPORT EVERYDAY LIFE?
Today, a woman in her twenties contacted me. She lives with Marfan syndrome and it all started with her grandmother then her mother.
Marfan is an inherited connective tissue disorder that affects the body’s supporting framework—from joints and posture to the eyes, heart and blood vessels. This is not new.
What is new is a possible change of perspective.
We did not promise a cure.
We discussed ways to support her everyday life.
Let's see her symptoms via a traditional lens: cold hands and feet, poor sleep, fatigue: within the Avicenna framework, we consider these as part of the wider pattern of demands, reserves and recovery. Nutrition, daily routines, and individually considered herbal or PEMF support may all form part of that discussion.
Her occasional rapid heartbeat and dizziness need separate assessment. These symptoms have not currently required cardiac intervention, so monitoring continues.
I also consider emotional wellbeing and family history important. Her maternal grandmother was the earliest known affected family member. Are there emotional burdens or recurring family patterns spanning generations that still influence their lives, stress, sleep or recovery?
This exploration does not have to happen with us. It could involve an appropriate practitioner, including a group family constellation setting. The aim is to understand how that emotional legacy may affect present-day stress, sleep and recovery.
All of this should work alongside the necessary medical care.
We are not promising to cure Marfan syndrome. We are looking at the person's living with the diagnosis and the opportunities to support their quality of life.
An invitation to explore a framework for understanding.
Not as a cure.
But as a framework.
Marfan syndrome requires medical care. Always work with your healthcare team.
