When I think of why I love having my family in Argentina, it always comes down to the communal and family/relationship focused culture. The US is an individualistic culture, which has it’s benefits but I have to say, as a mom I prefer 🇦🇷.

Is Argentina safe?

This is a common concern and a question I get asked all the time.

Argentina IS safe, but like anywhere in the world, you do need to be careful. Here are four tips for staying safe in Argentina:

1. Avoid using your phone on the sidewalk, particularly near the edge by traffic.

2. Don’t wear expensive jewelry, leave diamonds and heirlooms at home.

Is Argentina racist?

The internet seems to think so.

It feels like an orchestrated attack as bots and people who have never been here propagate accusations on social media about Argentina being the most racist place in the Americas (or possibly the world, if you were to believe them).

The truth is that history is nuanced.

I was hesitant to acknowledge this at all because I’m no expert in this subject. But I am familiar with Argentina and its people. I love it here and know that plenty of people follow me that may not see the history based responses to this wave of hate that I am seeing.

So I have put together these slides to help inform anyone following me that wants to learn more.

It’s not comprehensive, it can’t be. But I did do this thoughtfully and intentionally. I welcome additions and thoughts in the comments.
