It is estimated that only 1% of women of reproductive age get enough daily choline! 😧
Yet… It is SO important for so many reasons!
We need choline because
~ it is equally as important as folate for reducing risks of neural tube defects/supports central nervous system development
~ it’s required for synthesis of cell membranes and for DNA function
~ it increases your bubs cognitive function!!
~ helps get nutrients from you to babe through the placenta
I like to see my clients get a combo of food based choline (think eggs, beef liver, salmon, legumes, peanut butter, quinoa) and to make sure we are covering the basics I usually recommend a little extra in supplements (especially when trying to conceive).
Choline is one that’s not commonly found in prenatals, so it’s uber important to make sure you are either consuming enough diet wise, supplementing elsewhere or getting tailored advice 🥰
Give the best of you to your little one 🐣
