Yesterday was something none of us will ever forget.
πŸ€ŽπŸ’›
To everyone at the Houghton Raiders, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for wrapping your arms around our family and especially around Xave. The love, kindness and support you showed him was truly overwhelming.

A special shoutout to Sharon, Liam, Lucy and Belinda for everything you did behind the scenes and for making us feel so welcome.

To Jake, the A Grade captain, thank you for making sure Xave's experience was one he will never forget. From running out with the team to being absolutely spoilt in the VIP box, you made him feel like the most important person in the world.

And to Luke and Oliver – you boys are something truly special.
The way you have raised awareness for Xave, shared his story, and even got your school involved is incredible. Your selflessness, compassion and determination to help others is inspiring beyond words.

Yesterday reminded us just how lucky we are to be surrounded by such an amazing community. The memories you created for Xave and our family will stay with us forever.

If we've forgotten to mention anyone, please know it was never intentional. We are so incredibly grateful to every single person who played a part in making yesterday so special.

Thank you, Houghton Raiders.

We will never forget your kindness. πŸ’™πŸ‰

Before radiation, we’ve been trying to get Xavier into the hyperbaric chamber before he leaves each morning so he’s in there for an hour at 6am.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) helps by delivering high levels of oxygen to the body under increased air pressure.

This allows oxygen to dissolve more deeply into the blood and tissues, helping oxygen reach cells that may not normally get enough.

For kids like Xavier going through intensive treatment, the goal is to help support healing and recovery at a cellular level.

Oxygen is essential for the body to repair tissue, reduce inflammation, and support healthy cells. The therapy may also help the body cope better with the effects of radiation by improving circulation and oxygen delivery throughout the body.

It’s not always easy adding another early morning appointment into an already exhausting treatment schedule, but if it can help give Xavier’s body extra support during radiation, then it’s worth every 6am start. πŸ’›

As we enter another week of bridging treatment while we wait for the genetic testing to come back, things have been pretty uneventful β€” and honestly, we’ll take that 🀍

Xave has now completed:
✨ 3/17 rounds of radiation
✨ 5/21 days of oral chemo

We’ve had a few morning spews, but nothing we can’t manage with nausea meds thankfully.

Most importantly, Xave is continuing to live life to the absolute fullest, spending time with the people he adores and doing the things he loves most:
πŸ‰ Playing footy
πŸ“š Going to school
🎳 Bowling
🍦 Yochi runs
🍽️ Pub meals

Watching him continue to smile, laugh and enjoy the little things through all of this is something we never take for granted.

Thank you all for continuing to check in, support us and cheer Xave on every step of the way πŸ’›

Nothing makes me happier than seeing Xave doing what he loves 🀍
On the weekend, he got back out on the football field β€” something he had been counting down for. He even made sure both of his oncologists in the US knew he wasn’t staying any longer than he absolutely needed to because he wanted to get home and play football.
It’s hard to believe he has been in treatment since 2021. So much of his life has revolved around hospitals, scans, flights and treatments, yet he continues to amaze everyone around him with his strength and determination.
Watching him out there doing what he loves puts everything into perspective. He has a way of making you look at the bad days differently and reminding you what really matters.
For now, we are home for a few weeks while we wait for his genetic testing results and start planning our next steps. No matter what comes next, seeing that smile and joy back on the field means everything πŸ’›

Thanks houghtonraiders for always loving our family πŸ’›

πŸ’›Putting our armour back on πŸ’›

Next Wednesday Xavier will begin radiation β€” 17 doses combined with oral chemo β€” while we wait for his tumour block testing results to come back, then a tumour board will be created for Xave to come up with a precision approach depending on what his testing says.

It’s hard having to keep putting the armour back on and stepping back into battle again and again.

Living in fight or flight for all these years takes a toll that’s hard to put into words.

The exhaustion, the fear, the unknown… it never really leaves.

No matter how heavy the armour feels, we will continue to show up, continue to fight, and continue to hold onto hope.

We are also incredibly grateful that our teams in both Australia and the US are working so well together and are all over every detail of Xavier’s care.

We know everyone is doing everything possible for our boy, and right now we just need to trust the process and take things one step at a time.

Xavier has faced more in his little life than most adults ever will, yet he still smiles, still loves deeply, and still finds strength every single day.

He reminds me constantly what courage truly looks like.

So we take a deep breath, put our armour back on, and walk into this next fight together.

Mark Butler MP children with relapsed neuroblastoma still need your support.

Your role in bringing DFMO to Australia has been life-changing as a maintenance option, and our community is incredibly grateful.

However, for families like ours, it wasn’t available when we needed it most and now we find ourselves overseas, navigating treatment options far from home and our support network.

We’re grateful to have access to these options, but no family should have to leave their country and crowd fund to save their child.

Please continue to support families facing relapsed neuroblastoma.
