How much can a before & after photo really tell you about a clinic?

They can be helpful, but they’re still only part of the story.

They show you the outcome. They don’t show you the consultation, the clinical reasoning, what was recommended, what was declined, or the decisions that shaped that result.

And remember: social media is curated. You’re usually seeing the outcomes a clinic is most proud to share.

So yes, look at the before & afters. But also look at the nurse behind them; their experience, education, judgement, consultation process and approach to patient safety.

If the photos disappeared tomorrow, what else would make you trust the clinic?

There’s something new coming....

But bringing new technology into clinic is about more than simply having the latest device.

After attending UP Xchange and learning from leading voices in aesthetics, I came away with new insight into how technology, clinical decision-making and thoughtful treatment planning can work together to support better patient outcomes.

I’ve also experienced these treatments for myself, followed the process closely and seen the results firsthand.

I’m excited to bring what I’ve learned into Bespoke Facial & Body Clinic and introduce a new approach to skin that I genuinely believe will add value for my patients.

More to come soon.

The rules around cosmetic medicine have tightened a lot over the past few years, and honestly, it's overdue.

Higher standards mean better training, clearer accountability, and more protection for the people sitting in the treatment chair. Everyone in this industry is held to a higher bar now, and that pushes the whole space toward safer, more considered care.

For me, this shift has only reinforced why I work the way I do. Clear consultations, realistic expectations, and treatment plans built around what's actually right for each client, rather than what's trending. Regulation catching up to that approach feels less like a restriction and more like recognition of good practice finally being the standard.

If you notice more questions being asked, more caution being taken, or more explanation happening than you're used to, that's not overcaution. That's the industry doing right by you.

I get asked a lot why my consultations feel different to what people expect.

I spent over 30 years as a registered nurse before I moved into cosmetic aesthetics, and the last eight years have been specifically in this field. That background changes how I look at a face. I'm reading anatomy, muscle movement, and tissue quality, not just what's sitting on the surface.

It also changes when I say no. Knowing when a treatment isn't the right call matters just as much as knowing when it is, and that judgment only comes from years of clinical work.

Ever wonder why some faces look more balanced than others?

Perfect symmetry doesn't exist. Every face carries small natural differences between the left and right side, and those differences are part of what makes a face recognisably yours.

A lot of what shapes balance happens quietly, over years. Chewing patterns, posture, sleep position, jaw clenching, they all leave their mark. Add in the fact that different areas of the face age at different speeds and you get a picture that's constantly shifting rather than staying fixed.

I've been practising in aesthetics for more than eight years, and understanding these patterns shapes how I assess every client who walks through the door. It helps me work out where someone actually sits in their skin and cosmetic journey, rather than focusing only on the one area they've noticed.

Some questions come up in almost every consultation, and I don't mind answering them every time.

Asking too many questions is never a concern for me, and I'm always happy answer any question you have, no matter the concern.

If any of these come to mind before your next visit, bring them along. That's what the consultation is there for.

Ever wondered why two people with similar concerns end up with completely different treatment plans?

It comes down to anatomy. Knowing the names of the muscles is one part of it. Understanding how they move together, the ways they differ from person to person, and what shifts when one is treated is what actually shapes a plan.

That's the part of this work I find genuinely interesting. Every face has its own structure, and getting to know that structure properly is what allows a treatment to fit the person in front of me, rather than a general template.

If you've ever sat in a consultation and heard an explanation for why something is being suggested, or held off on, this kind of thinking is usually behind it.

A consultation with me is not a performance. Here's what stays out of the room.

"Everyone is getting this done, you should too."
Popularity was never a reason to book anything. What I care about is whether a treatment fits your skin and your goals, and that's a conversation only you and I can have.

"You need this treatment."
I don't walk in with a plan already decided. Your goals come first, then we talk about what might actually help, and sometimes the honest answer is nothing at all.

"You'll look so much better after this."
Better is your call to make, in your own time. My job is explaining what a treatment can realistically do so you can form your own opinion about the result.

"I've noticed this about you, let's fix it."
I'm not scanning your face for problems to solve. If you come in with a concern, we talk about it. If you don't raise one, I'm not going looking for one on your behalf.

"It'll completely transform your face."
Subtle and considered is almost always the better outcome. If a treatment sounds dramatic, that's usually a sign it's the wrong one for you.

A good consultation leaves you with information, not pressure. If a recommendation ever feels rushed or bigger than what you asked for, that's worth questioning, wherever you're sitting.

Your skin isn't the same as it was five years ago, and the science of how we treat it isn't either.

Cosmetic medicine moves fast, and the practitioners worth trusting are the ones who keep up with it. New research, updated techniques, better understanding of how the skin actually ages and repairs itself.

That's what continuing education looks like in this industry, and it's not optional if you genuinely care about getting results right.
