Communication is more than spoken words 💬

At Stone Speech Pathology, we support and encourage multimodal communication, recognising that individuals communicate in many different ways.

🗣 Spoken language
✋ Key Word Sign
📱 AAC and communication devices
👀 Facial expressions and eye gaze
👉 Gestures, pointing, and body language
🖼 Visual supports

Every form of communication is valid, meaningful, and important. Our goal is to help each individual communicate in the way that works best for them while supporting confidence, connection, and participation in everyday life.

Not sure if it’s time to seek support for your child’s communication? You’re not alone, many families wonder when to take that next step.

It might be worth speaking with your GP or a speech pathologist if you notice:
• Your child isn’t meeting typical speech or language milestones
• They’re hard to understand compared to other children their age
• They get frustrated when trying to communicate
• They’re not responding to sounds, their name, or instructions
• You have a gut feeling something isn’t quite right

Early support can make a big difference and reaching out doesn’t mean something is “wrong,” it just means you’re being proactive.

If you’re facing wait times, please know there are still supports available. We’ve created an active waiting list with helpful resources, guidance, and practical strategies for families while they wait, so you don’t have to feel stuck or hopeless.

Your GP can guide you on next steps and referrals, and we’re always here to chat if you have questions 🤍
