🧡I love being a mum and a wife, a care taker and nurturer to my family.
I also love working in the health and fitness industry and helping others feel the reward of taking care of themselves.

But I can also burn out. And I’m consistently reminded of this. Will I ever learn?!🫤

One thing I do know, is that nutrition, exercise/movement and sleep, hobbies and interests are the priority to ensure I can show up as the BEST MUM and wife to my family.

Fat loss becomes EASIER, and then sustained in the long term.

✅ Energy and sleep improve because training supports recovery, not exhaustion.
You reduce anxiety and depression and improve many of the symptoms related to hormone fluctuations in perimenopause.

✅ Results come from smarter training, not from doing more.
You can actually do LESS exercise sessions and gain MORE benefit compared to cardio alone.

• Fear of injury or “doing it wrong”

Why women in their 40s struggle with body composition 👙

If fat loss suddenly feels harder, your energy is lower, the food niose feels louder and your body isn’t responding the way it used to... please know this is not a discipline problem! 😰

For many women in their 40s, this is perimenopause physiology at work. 🤔

👉🏼Here’s what’s actually changing:

🔹 Sleep is disrupted
Fluctuating estrogen and progesterone impact sleep quality and recovery.
Poor sleep increases hunger hormones, reduces fat loss (even in a calorie deficit), and makes muscle harder to preserve.

🔹 Energy availability drops
Lower and less stable hormones affect mitochondrial function and nervous system recovery, meaning you feel more fatigued even when doing less!

🔹 Cravings increase
Blood sugar regulation becomes more challenging and stress tolerance drops (in an even more stressful time of your life!)
So the brain seeks quick energy, especially carbs and sugar and those hyperpalatable foods. 🍫

🔹 Movement naturally declines
So, with less sleep and less energy, you move fewer steps, do fewer exercise sessions, and have lower training quality, and often without even realising it. 👟

‼️And all of this directly affects body composition- you are storing more fat and losing muscle, or finding it harder to build muscle.

This is why doing more cardio, eating less or pushing harder always backfires eventually.❌

Women in this phase NEED smarter training, better recovery, protected muscle and REALISTIC expectations.

Daylight savings is ending.
The mornings are darker, getting colder, and it can feel a little harder to stay motivated with your training and healthy eating.

And this is where most people fall off.
Not because they don’t want results…

You CAN break the cycle with RESISTANCE TRAINING!

A study by Berin et al. found that just 15 weeks of resistance training reduced moderate to severe hot flushes by 44%‼️
AND nearly half of the women cut their flushes by at least 50%, with improvements showing up as early as week 3.

Many women over 40 are worried about bone loss… but are doing nothing about it. 🧐

Here’s the truth about increasing bone 🦴 density.
You don’t need hours in the gym or complicated programs.
Yes, resistance training helps a lot, as does being active.

But to really improve things fast, you should JUMP

Here’s what I often see after 40. 🤨

You’ve spent decades rearing kids, working, driving your career, taking on responsibility, caring for others and keeping it all together. 🔄

But slowly your health starts to decline. Achy joints, a body that feels inflamed and bloated, brain fog, tiredness, and maybe even some resentment. 😒

What happened? Why am I feeling this way?

👟 Exercise, hobbies and interests have slowly slipped away.

🥗 Nutrition has become just shopping for the family and making meals everyone will eat.

🫩You don’t feel like you anymore, and your body isn’t running well anymore either.
