There's a story in The Age this week that stopped us in our tracks.
It revealed optometrists at some of the big corporate chains being pushed to hit sales targets, rush eye exams, and even hold off on clinical checks during peak selling periods, all to move more product. In one case, an optometrist only caught a patient's brain aneurysm because they pushed back against the pressure to keep things quick and commercial.
It's optometry in the headline, but these corporate pressures exist right across healthcare, and audiology is no exception. When sales targets and KPIs sit at the centre of a health business, the person in the chair can slip down the priority list.
That's exactly why we do things differently at Hear More Audiology. We're a locally owned and operated clinic, so we don't answer to shareholders or head-office targets. We answer to you. Our recommendations come down to one thing: what's genuinely right for your hearing and your quality of life. No quotas, no pressure to sell. Nobody's rushing you out of the chair.
It's the freedom to take our time and really get to know you. We're in it for the long run, not just the sale.
