Six things cause blocked, full ears. Wax is only one of them.

Cotton buds push wax further in instead of out. Some ear canals are shaped in a way that traps it naturally. Hairy ears catch wax before it clears. Hearing aids or earplugs worn all day stop wax from working its way out. A cold or allergies can leave fluid sitting behind the drum. Flying or a steep drive can change ear pressure enough to feel like they need to pop.

Still picturing the big, bulky hearing aids your grandparents wore? That's not what we fit anymore.

Rob, one of our audiologists in Seaton, breaks down what's actually changed. Today's devices use AI-driven noise reduction, stream calls and music straight from your phone, and adjust automatically depending on where you are, no buttons, no fumbling with settings.

But the technology is only half the story. How a device is fitted and programmed for your hearing and your life matters just as much as the hardware itself. That's the part we spend the most time getting right.

Want to know what's actually right for you? Give us a call or pop over to our website to book in.

That's a wrap on theAged & Disability Expo Australia at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre.

Rob spent the day chatting with people about hearing tests, hearing aids, microsuction wax removal, tinnitus management and noise induced hearing loss claims. The best part is always the conversations you don't expect.

Thanks so much to everyone who stopped by the stand.

If you meant to come over and didn't get the chance, give Rob a call on (08) 7095 8685.

We're also sharing some great content on hearing aids this week, with Rob answering all of your questions. Worth a follow if that's on your mind.

There's a story in The Age this week that stopped us in our tracks.

It revealed optometrists at some of the big corporate chains being pushed to hit sales targets, rush eye exams, and even hold off on clinical checks during peak selling periods, all to move more product. In one case, an optometrist only caught a patient's brain aneurysm because they pushed back against the pressure to keep things quick and commercial.

It's optometry in the headline, but these corporate pressures exist right across healthcare, and audiology is no exception. When sales targets and KPIs sit at the centre of a health business, the person in the chair can slip down the priority list.

That's exactly why we do things differently at Hear More Audiology. We're a locally owned and operated clinic, so we don't answer to shareholders or head-office targets. We answer to you. Our recommendations come down to one thing: what's genuinely right for your hearing and your quality of life. No quotas, no pressure to sell. Nobody's rushing you out of the chair.

It's the freedom to take our time and really get to know you. We're in it for the long run, not just the sale.

We'd genuinely love to hear what you think. And if you've been hoping for hearing care that truly feels like it's on your side, we'd be so glad to welcome you in.

Most people take their hearing aids out way more than they should.

The truth?
There are very few times you actually need to remove them.

Outside of things like showering or swimming, consistency is what helps your brain adjust and hear clearly.

The more you wear them… the better they work.
