At just 13-years-old, Zac Waters from Utah decided to use his passion for 3D printing to help a child he had never even met. After discovering the nonprofit MakeGood and its work creating assistive devices, Zac spent around 300 hours of his summer designing, printing, testing, and assembling a custom mobility chair for a 2-year-old girl.
Zac didn’t simply make a standard chair. He personalized it with pink accents, based on the toddler’s favorite color, along with green and yellow details. It also features a removable cup holder and tray table, adjustable headrest and footrest so it can grow with her, and space on the back for carrying medical equipment.
The project was made possible through MakeGood, a nonprofit that provides free designs for assistive devices so volunteer makers can build them for people who need them. Zac said the project combined his two favorite things: 3D printing and helping people in need. After seeing the finished chair and the family’s reaction, he said it made him happy to know his work could make such a difference.
Zac’s grandmother said his age doesn’t determine his ability to make a difference, and Zac now hopes to continue developing his skills and eventually create even more devices to help others. Via Thoughts Fired

Mar Galcerán has made history as Spain’s first parliamentarian with Down syndrome after taking her seat
in the regional parliament of Valencia. Her achievement is also widely recognized as a European first,
making her the first person with Down syndrome to serve in a regional parliament in Europe.
A member of Spain’s People’s Party (PP), Galcerán has spent more than 20 years advocating for the rights and inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities.
Speaking about her historic election, she said she hopes it will help break stereotypes and show that people with Down syndrome are fully capable of contributing to public life.
Her appointment marks an important milestone for disability representation, inclusion, and equal opportunities in politics.
