💙 Reflections from Brisbane — Day 2 💙

Another big day at the DSC Conference, with a few messages really standing out.

Find the joy in the everyday things. Times are tough across the sector right now, and there’s plenty of uncertainty. For many of us, The Monthly Mixer is very much part of that joy.

We also heard again about the importance of genuinely hearing the voices of people with intellectual disability — including people with complex communication needs — and making sure those voices shape all that we do.

And finally, collaboration is key. Working across organisations, sharing ideas and supporting each other will help us navigate what comes next.

Lots to bring home to Armidale. 💜

🩵 Reflections from Brisbane 💙

Our coordinator Miranda is in Brisbane for the DSC Conference 2026, representing The Monthly Mixer and learning from some very clever people in the room.

One message coming through strongly from the speakers on Day 1 has been the importance of people with intellectual disability informing and guiding organisations, governance and practice.

This is something we’re proud to have built into The Monthly Mixer from the beginning. We’re informed by our community and guided by our Inclusive Planning Group.

Looking forward to Day 2! 💜
