Why can just one week make such a big difference on an early pregnancy ultrasound?
In the early stages of pregnancy, development happens quickly. This means that what can be seen on an ultrasound may change significantly over a relatively short period of time.
Sometimes, an early ultrasound may simply be too soon to provide all the expected information. Depending on the findings and your individual circumstances, your doctor may recommend a follow-up ultrasound after an appropriate interval to assess how the pregnancy has developed.
Even a difference of a few days can change what is visible on an early pregnancy ultrasound.
Every pregnancy is different, which is why ultrasound findings are considered alongside your pregnancy dates, symptoms and clinical history.
