Here's a snippet from my talk at Mardi Grass this year. The camera card got filled up too soon so I mostly only explored themes of Growing Up, with the medicine of Iboga being shared later.

Iboga is a medicine for times of Initiation. From my personal experiences with it, and especially with my time in Gabon using it during my Initiation ceremony - the themes this plant works with help people to grow up and become their adult selves.

At the current time we we live in, Gaia is facing a crude shake up of permanent change required. The carbon pulse is burning out, and so are we. No longer are the threats we face contained or even able to be tended to in simple manners. Aka economic issues are affecting environmental issues are affecting social welfare issues... etc. It's all leaking all over the place.

The growing up is now. Let's take the leap into the next phase of consciousness together - away from the hyper individuated ways of the recent past, and into an integrated transpersonal future. Where we act as a collective who cares about the relationships we are embedded in.

In our spare time we here at EntheoBotanica are obsessed with music. Both Elijah and myself are performing artists and song writers.

The realm is music is actually quite connected to the realm of plants.

In ceremonial settings the icaros (plant songs) are used for healing; sung unto the body and mind to bring the plant's medicine into the physical body, invoking plants as teachers and doctors. Once songs were traded as a currency. To know a plant song was to be deep in relation to that plant, and it was traded from healer to healer as a high value sort after 'thing' by healers.

The same creative lateral neural networking that taps Polyrhythmic beats, that is able to hold a space of flow and focus when dealing with matters of health, sickness and medicine. It is also the same left hemisphere listening that is able to hear the lyrics to a song travelling earth side, that hears the voice of Pacha Mamma in her soils, leaves, flower and roots. The song of the Earth, the song of the plants, and the song of sweet music are actually all the same one song, the one verse, the uni-verse.

Elijah Kindred is not only excellent at creating functional systems in our business, tending to orders, postage and pressing herbs - but he is a musician and sound scape artist. Recently he played a sound healing to a story telling of IRON JOHN at Alternatives Bookstore, Bellingen.

The Ginkgo leaves are falling.

As the fire of the sun moves further away, the fire in our bellies must increase. The world is inviting in more internal warmth through blood circulation & digestion to ensure we stay toasty, clear, warm hearted, healthy and kind over the contractive time of winter that is phasing in.

I love how foraging invites in deep listening to the bounty of the land. I love how foraging reminds us that 'WHEN IT'S ON IT'S ON!' - To stop and enjoy the moment right now that is overflowing with abundance, but only available briefly in this way. Life is inherently abundant briefly, then all fields must go fallow for recovery.

I'm looking forward to sharing more about plants and stages of development at HERBFEST 2026 - June 14th Coolum / Sunshine Coast. I'll also be sharing some music :)

As we grow and develop we move through important milestones and at each step along the way, there are plants that show up to help navigate those changes.

Just as our human civilisation has grown through many epochs and iterations where different plants shepherded us as major instigators of progress and celebration - so do plants show up for us individually at meaningful moments.

Hobbies aren’t just things you squeeze into spare moments - they’re your soul's food. They’re part of what keeps your life in balance.

I spent the weekend playing music at the local markets in Bellingen. And you know what it did for me? It called me forward. It made me accountable to my health, my dreams, my body.

I left feeling REALLY, deeply, undeniably good.
