“We prove our greatness, not by the amount of our possessions, but by the grandeur of our actions.”
Last week we lost our Uncle Brian, and this quote from his funeral has stayed with me.
He was a beautiful man, my dad’s older brother, and someone who was such a big part of our family. Stoic, dependable and always there. The one who would give the speech at family gatherings, remember your birthday, send a message when you achieved something special, and simply make sure you knew you mattered
His life was a beautiful example of this quote — that greatness isn’t measured by what we have, but by what we give, the people we show up for, and the mark we leave on their lives.
And perhaps the greatest way we can honour him is by asking ourselves: how can we live a little more like this quote — with greater kindness, generosity and purpose, and by making sure the people around us know they matter?
