π§ Does your child struggle with liking water?
Drinking water can be gross! The temperature, taste, smell, cup, straw or even the feeling of water in their mouth can all influence whether theyβre willing to drink.
Here are some easy swaps you can try:
π§ Changing the temperature to suit their preference.. Icy cold vs Room temperature vs Warm
π₯€ Experimenting with different cups, bottles or straws
π Add a little flavour with sugar-free cordial
π¦ In summer, offer hydrating foods like watermelon, strawberries, icy poles or smoothies
πͺ Try protein water! This can add a nice taste alongside some nutritional benefits (keep in mind that this is very age-dependent and not safe for young children)
Remember, hydration doesnβt have to be boring. Finding a way of drinking that feels sensory-safe and manageable can make a huge difference.
