🥝 FUN FACT FRIDAY 🥝
Did you know you can eat the whole kiwi fruit — skin and all?

The skin is packed with fibre, antioxidants, and extra vitamin C, making it a simple way to boost your nutrition!

If the fuzzy texture isn’t your thing, golden kiwifruit often has a smoother skin that’s easier to eat ✨

Have you ever tried eating kiwi with the skin on?

Today is World IBD Day đź’ś

Inflammatory Bowel Disease, including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, affects thousands of Australians and can have a huge impact on daily life, nutrition, energy levels, and overall wellbeing.

As dietitians, we know there is no “one size fits all” approach to managing IBD. Nutrition support can play an important role in helping manage symptoms, support gut health, and maintain nutritional adequacy during both flares and remission.

A reminder today to show compassion, raise awareness, and support those living with IBD — because many challenges are invisible. 💜

Fun Fact Friday!

Did you know cooking and then cooling potatoes increases their resistant starch content — a type of fibre that supports gut health and can help keep you fuller for longer. Resistant starch acts as food for beneficial gut bacteria and may also help support more stable blood glucose levels

Your breakfast may be missing a few key components that help keep you full and satisfied throughout the morning.

❤️ Heart Health Week is here (4–10 May) ❤️

Looking after your heart doesn’t have to be complicated. Small, consistent choices like including more fibre-rich foods, healthy fats, and regular meals can make a big difference over time.

One person in Australia has a heart attack or stroke every four minutes. Knowing your risk is the first step to a healthier heart — which is why the Heart Foundation is encouraging everyone to see their GP for a Heart Health Check this week.

If you’re looking for some practical ways to support your heart, the Heart Foundation also has a fantastic range of heart-healthy recipes that are both simple and delicious 🙌

Book your Heart Health Check with your GP and never miss a beat đź’™

When it comes to kids’ nutrition, more protein isn’t always better.

Most children are already getting enough protein to support growth, without the need for extra or “high-protein” foods.

What matters most? Variety, regular meals, and a balance of nutrients to support energy, development, and overall health.

Because growing bodies need more than just protein!

Vitamin C isn’t just about avoiding a cold 🍊

It plays a key role in:
• protecting your cells from damage
• supporting collagen production (think skin, joints, recovery)
• keeping your immune system functioning well
• helping your body absorb iron from plant foods

The good news? You don’t need supplements to meet your needs—just include a variety of vitamin C–rich foods like fruits and veggies across the day 🥝🍓🌶️

A simple tip: pair vitamin C foods with iron-rich meals (like legumes, wholegrains, or leafy greens) to boost absorption 👌
