According to Bowel Cancer Australia, up to 99% of cases can be successfully treated if detected in the earliest stages. Plus, there are highly effective, everyday steps you can take to support your gut and lower your risk.

Here are a few evidence-based preventive tips to support your bowel health today:

🌱 Load up on wholegrains and fibre: Aim to fill two-thirds of your plate with plant-based foods. Consuming at least 90 grams of wholegrains a day (like brown rice, oats, or wholemeal sourdough) can significantly reduce your risk.

🥩 Rethink processed meats: High intakes of processed meats (like bacon, ham, and salami) and heavy amounts of red meat are strongly linked to bowel cancer. Try swapping some of these out for lean poultry, wild-caught fish, or plant proteins like lentils and chickpeas.

🏃‍♂️ Move your body daily: Regular physical activity helps keep things moving through your digestive tract and lowers inflammation. Aim for at least 30 minutes of daily movement that gets your heart rate up.

🍷 Mind the alcohol: Cutting back on alcohol is a powerful step, as risk increases significantly with regular consumption.
