A powerful example of workplace health delivery at the coal face.
Over a 5-day campaign at Collinsville Open Cut Mine, our clinical team delivered more than 320 health screenings including preventative health checks, women’s health checks, prostate cancer screening and skin checks.
Importantly, alongside a number of significant health issues identified including cardiovascular risk, liver function abnormalities, lifestyle-related risk factors, mental health concerns and melanoma, we also saw many cases of meaningful health improvement since our last visit. That's one of the most encouraging aspects of our periodic visits: not just identifying health risks early, but also demonstrating the positive, longitudinal changes occurring.
Onsite screenings in the workplace create a practical, accessible opportunity for workers to check in on their health and, where needed, get connected back into the health system for further follow-up and management with their treating doctor.
For employers, it is a meaningful investment in healthier, safer and more engaged teams. For workers and their families, it can be the difference between picking something up early and finding it too late.
A genuine win for workers, employers and the communities they live in and a strong reminder of the role workplace health programs can play in tackling chronic disease across Australia.
