A bigger plate doesn’t always mean “too much food” 🥬🍳

These meal is around 375 calories with 30g protein and 15g fibre, but the number isn’t really the point.

What I love about this plate is the volume, variety and nutrition it provides: eggs for protein, wholegrain/low-carb bread, and plenty of vegetables for fibre, vitamins and minerals.

🥗“Nutritious eating” isn’t about eating the lowest-calorie foods possible or trying to trick yourself into eating less. It’s about recognising that adding nourishing, high-volume foods can help us eat enough, feel satisfied and support our health.

This can be particularly helpful when working towards goals such as improving blood glucose levels, supporting heart and gut health, managing chronic disease, or finding a more sustainable approach to weight management.

And importantly, it can also be a really useful tool when trying to step away from the diet cycle.❌❌

Rather than:
restrict → get overly hungry → overeat → feel guilty → restrict again…
we can focus on building meals that are generous, satisfying and nourishing.

🥚 Protein for satisfaction and muscle health
🥬 Vegetables for fibre, volume and micronutrients
🍞 Carbohydrate for energy
🌶️ And flavour because food should actually taste good!

The goal isn’t to copy what your dietitian eats, count every calorie, or make every meal look like this. Your nutritional needs are individual. This is simply an example of how adding more nourishment to the plate can sometimes be more helpful than constantly focusing on what to take away.

Health doesn’t have to start with eating less. Sometimes it starts with eating better — and enough. 💜

Saturday mornings at the Bauer Twins Health Hub ☕️🩺✨

A little Saturday clinic life…
🚗 Driving into the clinic
☕️ Essential local coffee stop at KC's Fresh
💻 Seeing our lovely clients
📋 Finishing off the week’s admin
🤍 Then calling it a day!

Running a small healthcare business means Saturdays aren’t quite sleep-ins anymore 😂

But there’s something pretty special about building a clinic we love, one coffee and one Saturday at a time.

☕ Coffee doesn’t have to be “good” or “bad”—it’s all about the bigger picture.
Emerging research suggests that, for many people, moderate coffee intake may have health benefits.

But just like every part of nutrition, context matters. Caffeine isn’t suitable for everyone, and it’s never something we’d recommend if it worsens your health, sleep, anxiety, or medical conditions.
Nutrition isn’t about chasing perfection. It’s about building sustainable habits that work for you.
And yes… you’ll often find me enjoying a vanilla latte. 😊 Because healthy eating can absolutely include foods (and drinks!) you genuinely enjoy.
✨ Remember Progress over perfection.
