A Message from Barry Allen:

Upcoming Leave Notice – July to September 2026

Dear Care Chiro Cairns Family,

I would like to let you know that I will be taking an extended period of leave from 1 July 2026 through to 18 September 2026.

This break has been planned well in advance and will provide an opportunity to recharge, spend time with family and friends, and return to the practice refreshed and ready to continue providing the highest level of care to our community.

Your Care During This Time:

The Care Chiro Cairns team will continue to operate as normal throughout my absence. Dr Kim Castelo Branco and support staff will be available to ensure your chiropractic care remains consistent and uninterrupted.

If you currently have a treatment plan in place, Dr Kim Castelo Branco will work with you to ensure a smooth transition and continuity of care while I am away.

Before I Leave:

If you would like to schedule an appointment with me before 1 July, I encourage you to book as soon as possible, as appointment availability is expected to become limited in the weeks leading up to my departure.

Returning to Practice:

I am looking forward to returning to the clinic on 18 September 2026 and reconnecting with all of you upon my return.

Thank you for your ongoing trust, support, and loyalty. It is a privilege to be part of your health journey, and I appreciate your understanding during this period of leave.

Chiropractor: Dr Barry Allen

I hold a Bachelor in Chiropractic (NZCC) and a Masters in Pain Medicine (Newcastle). As a second-generation Chiropractor, I’m passionate about delivering the same level of care to every client that I’d give my own Mum (and she’s a tough critic, being married to a retired Chiropractor!).

Before settling here, I worked across New Zealand and Australia as an emergency locum for about 15 years. That experience gave me a broad range of techniques and the ability to adapt to complex cases—skills I now share with my clients. I also collaborate closely with other professionals when it benefits your care.

So, welcome to Care Chiro Cairns. The “dad jokes” are free, and our shared goal is simple: to have you Absolutely Thriving.

Education & Experience:

I earned a Master’s Degree in Chiropractic (cum laude) from the University of Johannesburg. With over eleven years of practice in South Africa and Canada, I specialize in family and sports chiropractic care.

Professional Interests & Approach:

My interests include paediatric, perinatal, and sports injury chiropractic, as well as lifestyle wellness. I use both manual and instrument-assisted techniques, tailoring each treatment plan to individual needs.

I provide targeted care for athletes, including dry needling, IASTM, and exercise prescription.

I use multiple therapies such as manipulation, mobilization, soft tissue work, dry needling, rehabilitation, and exercise to treat and prevent injuries while boosting athletic function.

Originally from Japan, I hold a Master of Sports Science and have a background in fitness, posture, and movement. My treatments combine anatomy-based bodywork with relaxation, deep tissue, pressure point techniques, and posture awareness to support both physical relief and deep relaxation.

I believe when the body relaxes and moves more freely, the mind naturally follows. My goal is to help people feel lighter, more comfortable, and more connected to their bodies in everyday life.

With over 9 years’ experience working across sport, the RAAF, mining, and remote
communities, she has a strong understanding of how the body performs under load- and what it takes to keep it healthy in real-world environments.
