Try Havening Touch 🤍
Havening is a gentle self-soothing technique that uses nurturing touch on the arms, hands and face to help create feelings of safety within the body.
When we experience stress, the amygdala (the brain’s threat detector) can become highly activated, keeping us in fight, flight, freeze or overwhelm.
Havening touch sends calming signals through the nervous system and helps the body remember that in this moment, you are safe.
✨ Try this:
Gently stroke from your shoulders down to your elbows.
As you do, breathe in for a count of 5 and out for a count of 5.
Bring your awareness to your heart centre.
As you breathe in, imagine your heart’s electromagnetic field expanding out around you.
As you breathe out, gently draw that energy back into your heart.
While applying the Havening touch, softly repeat:
🤍 I am safe.
🤍 I am secure.
🤍 I am enough.
🤍 I trust myself.
🤍 I am supported.
🤍 I can relax now.
Continue for 2-5 minutes.
Often you’ll notice your breathing soften, your heart rate slow, your shoulders drop and your mind become quieter.
