30 years ago, I moved to Paris and had the most incredible 6 months that changed my life forever. I studied French, gathered a gorgeous group of friends from around the Globe (one who I still consider a bestie), drank a lot of coffee, way too much wine and discovered pain au chocolat!
Interestingly, it was here that I discovered yoga for the first time, and began my practice with 3 Sun salutations every morning and evening (even in amongst my late nights out)
Importantly, I learnt what it felt like to create a life in a foreign country by following a gut instinct and just going for it.
Fast forward all these years, and I am picking up where I left off and am continuing the dream to live in France and learn to speak French … of course, not in Paris, but the somewhat edgier version here in the south of France in Marseille.
Even though I have lived in various cities around the world, moving to a different country still requires effort, organisation and, most importantly, courage and conviction.
Taking that leap of faith never really gets easier; you simply become more acquainted with the uncertainty, fear and resistance that surface each time you step beyond the familiar.
The difference is that you learn not to mistake fear for a sign to stop. Instead, you recognise it as a natural part of stepping into something new.
