Wow todays weather is a little off for this time of the year up here, cloudy with rain all day on and off between the spurts of sunshine, a little different to the normal sunny days we have in FNQ. Anyway its great to still be around and able to get out meet some amazing people.

Another great Far North Queensland event the Regional Disability Expo was held in Cairns Tuesday the 26th May, what a fantastic opportunity it was to see just what was happening and the buzz in the Cairns NDIS community at the moment. Some truly amazing individuals out there making a massive difference. Sensationally some of the newcomers to the region have been a while in the making but to see Cultural, Mental and Physical supports getting the spotlight again was super.

The updates delivered by Hon Mark Butler MP around the future of NDIS and plans to take the scheme from the current number of participants 774,456 (March 2026) down to around 600,000 participants by the close of the decade (22.5% reduction), have been a major cause of stress and anxiety recently.
As a Plan Manager First2Care Plan Management has a team of specialists working behind the scenes to deliver answers and help where possible.

Some of the work we do involves getting out to remote and rural areas - it is certainly a challenge currently with the fuel crisis in Australia to be able to reach out to the communities that are most hurt by the situation - but knowing the many organisations I have been working with, and their passion for not only helping others, but in particularly those that are really doing things tough, it is comforting for the participants we connect with to know we have their back no matter what. I love working for an organisation that supports this and acts in harmony.
