Australia recognised Rural Generalist Medicine as a specialty.
Medicare still hasn't.

Rural Generalists deliver advanced care in communities across Australia, helping patients access services closer to home. But many remain unable to access Medicare items that recognise the full scope of the care they provide.

The reform is ready to go. Rural communities shouldn't have to wait.

Oi, rural blokes! Need something checked? Don't put it off… book it in.

This Men's Health Week, we are reminding Aussie men that getting on top of health concerns early can make a real difference.

Too many men wait until symptoms become serious before seeking help. Whether it's a physical concern, feeling run down, changes to your mental health, or simply being due for a check-up, your GP is there to help.

As RDAA President Dr Sarah Chalmers says, the most important step is simply making the appointment.

Huge congratulations to RDAA Board Member, Dr Dan Halliday, who has received the AMA Queensland Rural Health Medal for 2026! 🤩

In addition to his current RDAA role, Dan is a former President of both the Rural Doctors Association of Queensland - RDAQ and the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM).

He has not only provided exceptional service to Stanthorpe and other rural communities during his medical career, but he has made a huge commitment over many years to the Rural Doctors movement at both a state and national level - and that is something we greatly appreciate! 🙌

Congratulations Dan on this highly deserved recognition!

It's Thank a First Responder Day - and today we join many others across rural and remote Australia in letting our local first responders know just how much we appreciate their exceptional service and dedication to our communities!

We are truly blessed in the bush to have highly professional first responders (both paid and volunteer) across all the emergency services. They are hugely dedicated to their communities and to being there to help those in need - often in someone's darkest hour.

A huge thank you for all you do! 😍

Just like the Rural Residents, Registrars and Fellows at Lismore Base Hospital, we're wearing our craziest socks today for Crazy Socks 4 Docs Day!

Behind every doctor is a person, and like anyone else, doctors can face challenges with their mental health and wellbeing.

Crazy Socks 4 Docs Day is a reminder that it's okay to seek help, start a conversation, and support one another.

Today, we're proudly wearing our brightest socks to show our support for doctors everywhere and to help break down the stigma around mental illness.
