Huge congratulations to Rural Doctors Association of Western Australia President, Dr Thomas Drake-Brockman (they/them), who has received the Australian Medical Association 2026 Diversity in Medicine Award for their outstanding contribution to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion within the medical profession and broader healthcare system.

A Rural Generalist registrar in WA, Thomas has held a range of leadership and advocacy roles, including as AMA (WA) Doctors in Training Co-Chair, where they championed issues affecting women doctors, parents, international medical graduates, doctors with disability, and LGBTQIASB+ doctors and patients.

They continue to contribute through leadership roles in the AMA and the broader community, including as RDAWA President, Chairperson of Transfolk WA and a Director of Pride WA.

They have also helped shape national and state policy on LGBTIQA+ health and inclusion through advisory roles with the Australian and WA governments.

Our warmest congratulations on this well-deserved award, Thomas!
