The introduction of the extravascular implantable cardiac defibrillator (EV-ICD) marks an important step forward in the management of patients at risk of sudden cardiac death. Dr Alasady has now implanted a number of these innovative devices, and it has been encouraging to see the benefits they can offer appropriately selected patients.

A big thank you to the National Capital Private Hospital and Medtronic teams for their support in bringing this technology to Canberra and helping drive innovation in cardiac care.

It's exciting to see new technologies become available locally, providing clinicians and patients with additional options in the management of arrhythmia and the prevention of sudden cardiac death.

Another milestone for Dr Alasady and the team at National Capital Private Hospital, performing more than 100 pulse field ablation cases with the Affera system with zero major complications.

Last Thursday, Dr Muayad Alasady performed our first case using a new heart mapping and ablation system that brings a major step forward in treating atrial fibrillation and other arrhythmias.

This advanced system allows Dr Alasady to map the heart and treat abnormal rhythms using a single catheter, with the ability to switch between radiofrequency and pulsed-field energy during the procedure.

For patients, this means a more streamlined, efficient and precise experience.

Excited to share a recent case where Dr Alasady successfully upgraded a single-chamber AVEIR VVI pacemaker to a dual-chamber DDDR system by adding an AAI device.

The AVEIR DR leadless system is a remarkable innovation, offering a flexible, phased approach to pacing therapy. Being able to add a second device later to initiate AV synchrony without replacing the original system, opens up new possibilities for personalised care.

Incredible to see how this technology is reshaping the future of pacing.

Last week was a week of firsts, as Dr. Alasady also became the first in Australia & New Zealand to use Abbott’s HD Grid X mapping catheter at the National Capital Private Hospital during a right atrial atypical flutter procedure.

The catheter seamlessly captured precise right atrial geometry and over 15,000 mapping points in just 7 minutes, enabling quicker analysis and targeted ablation.

These advancements significantly reduce procedure time and enhance patient outcomes, reinforcing our commitment to delivering cutting-edge care.

Last week, Dr Alasady successfully performed an Australian first jugular approach with Aveir VR at the National Capital Private Hospital in Canberra.

Traditionally, crossing the valve from groin access can be complex, but using the internal jugular vein approach, the procedure went smoothly, leading to a fantastic outcome for the patient.

On Monday, it was an incredible milestone for cardiac care! Dr Muayad Alasady successfully implanted the AVIER DR Dual Chamber Leadless Pacemaker, the first device of its kind in the world and the first to be implanted in the Southern Hemisphere.

Dr. Muayad Alasady, one of the few physicians in Australia trained to perform this procedure, completed two beautiful cases right here in at the National Capital Private Hospital.

This innovative technology eliminates leads, reduces complications, improves patient comfort with no generators, and allows for faster recovery - transforming the way we care for patients.

This will benefit the public patients within the ACT and surrounds by ensuring access to specialised electrophysiology services that Dr Alasady provides and has provided for many years.

This will contribute to patient care which Canberra Health Services provides for the benefit of Territorians."

Our team are passionate about extending health services to the region. We understand the stress that heart health can bring, Dr. Muayad Alasady and Dr. Sharon Wilson regularly visit clinics in Moruya and Cooma to provide heart consultations, device checks and Echocardiograms.
