The way we speak to ourselves matters. 🧠🌿

Our brains are constantly learning from what we experience, practise and repeat.

Over time, familiar thoughts and behaviours can become familiar pathways too.

But familiar doesn’t mean fixed.

Thanks to neuroplasticity, our brains have the ability to adapt, learn and change throughout our lives. By becoming more aware of the thoughts we repeatedly reinforce, we can begin creating new patterns.

So here’s something to take with you today:

What thoughts would you like to practise more often? 💚

Maybe it’s confidence, gratitude, patience, possibility — or simply speaking to yourself with a little more kindness.

Small shifts. Repeated often. Big impact.

Think your coordination is pretty good? Grab a ball and give this one a try. 🎾🧠

Ball coordination exercises are such a simple way to challenge your hand-eye coordination, focus, reaction time and brain-body connection.

And when you’re learning an unfamiliar movement pattern, your brain has to adapt, problem-solve and create more efficient ways of performing the skill - which is exactly the kind of challenge we want when we’re talking about neuroplasticity.

Plus… it’s fun. And slightly humbling. 😂

How did you go? Give it a try and let me know below! 👇

Sometimes we don't need more information.

We simply need the right reminder at the right moment.

If this was yours today, save it for later. 💚

Five small habits I use every day to support my brain health 🧠

🌈 NOURISH
I focus on colourful whole foods and include healthy fats - particularly foods like walnuts, which provide omega-3 fatty acids and other nutrients that support brain health.

💧 HYDRATE
The brain is roughly 75% water, so hydration matters. Even mild dehydration can affect concentration, attention and cognitive performance.

☀️ MORNING SUNLIGHT
Getting natural light early in the day helps regulate your circadian rhythm - supporting alertness during the day and better quality sleep at night.

🤸‍♀️ MOVE
Even 20 minutes of movement can benefit your brain. Regular exercise supports blood flow, cognition and brain health, and can help stimulate BDNF - a protein involved in neuroplasticity and the growth and maintenance of brain cells.

🧩 CHALLENGE
Sudoku, juggling, coordination exercises, learning something new - give your brain something to work on. Novelty and challenge encourage your brain to keep adapting and forming new connections.

Brain health doesn’t have to be complicated. Small daily habits can make a big difference. 💛

Which of these are already part of your day?

A little collection of kind words that have landed in the Cupboard lately. 🌿

Whether it’s a comment on YouTube, a Google review, or a message on Facebook, I genuinely love hearing when something I’ve shared has been helpful, useful or simply made someone’s day a little brighter. 💫

Seeing so many of you getting something from these resources is especially lovely, because that was exactly why I created the Wellness Cupboard in the first place. 🪷

Thank you to everyone who takes a moment to leave a comment, share an experience or send a few kind words my way. They mean more than you know. 💚

Some days you need space to slow down and recharge. Other days, you need the support of people who understand.

Both matter.

Wellness isn't one-size-fits-all, and neither are the tools that help us feel our best. That's why I created Wellness Cupboard—a place to share practical, accessible strategies that can support you wherever you are.

Sometimes that might be a quiet moment to yourself. Other times, it might be learning alongside others, sharing experiences, or simply taking time to reset.

My goal isn't to tell you how to live. It's to offer practical tools that you can adapt to suit your own life, your own challenges and your own goals.

Whether you're looking to pause, reconnect, build healthier habits or simply take a break from the pace of everyday life, I hope you'll find something here that supports you—one small step at a time.

What we repeat matters. What we focus on matters. And what we practise, our brain gets better at. 🧠🌿

I loved these reminders from neuroscientist drtaraswart because they capture something I talk about often — our brains are constantly learning from our experiences, thoughts and behaviours.

Neuroplasticity means the brain can adapt and change throughout our lives. The patterns we practise repeatedly can become stronger and more familiar over time.

So perhaps the question isn’t just “What am I thinking?” but also…

“What am I teaching my brain through repetition?”

A beautiful reminder to be intentional about where we place our attention and what we practise each day. 💚

Movement doesn’t always have to look like a structured workout.

It’s a huge part of the Wellness Cupboard philosophy, and when I have a little extra time — and some solid ground beneath me 😂 — I love experimenting with different ways to move.

Some of these are trends I’ve seen and thought “I’ll give it a go!”. Others are yoga inversions I like to play around with every now and then.

Trying unfamiliar movements asks your brain and body to coordinate, problem-solve and adapt. Learning and practising new motor skills encourages neuroplasticity — your brain literally adapts as you develop and refine a new skill.

But perhaps most importantly — movement should be fun.

Changing things up keeps movement interesting. It gives you an opportunity to play, experiment, challenge yourself and sometimes laugh when things don’t go quite according to plan. 😂

Something I’ve heard more than once after my retreats is:

“I didn’t think I’d like that.”

Sometimes we decide something isn’t for us before we’ve even tried it.

So whether it’s a new movement, class, hobby, puzzle — or a ridiculous internet challenge — give it a go. You might surprise yourself. 🌿.

And a little thank you to Four Springs Villa & Inn for such a lovely stay — spacious, peaceful and so conveniently located. The perfect little base for my time in St Lucia. 🌿☀️
