š This is where it all started for us
At the very beginning of our journey ā during Maddieās first OT assessment ā I remember watching the therapists talking and signing at the same time.
I actually interrupted them to let them know that Maddie could hear.
I didnāt realise then that signing isnāt just for people who are Deaf.
Not many people do.
And honestly⦠how would you know unless youāre in that position?
Key Word Sign is widely used for children and adults who are non-verbal, or who have difficulty communicating.
And it can make such a difference.
⨠It supports understanding
⨠Reduces frustration
⨠Encourages communication
⨠Builds connection
But the biggest impact?
It opens the door.
It gives children like Maddie ā who have limited ways to express themselves ā a way to be included, understood, and heard.
You donāt need to learn everything.
You donāt need to be perfect.
Even learning a few signs can make a world of difference.
š One sign at a time.
