Last week Cass made the trip north from Coffs Harbour to Rockhampton for Motherland’s Queensland event, where she met up with Carolyn and joined more than 200 rural mothers from across the state for an afternoon centred on connection, community and shared experience.
As Diamond Sponsors, RHRF and the Ubuntu Foundation were proud to support an event that is making a real difference in the lives of rural women. It was also wonderful to spend time with RHRF Ambassador, the Hon. Bronnie Taylor, whose ongoing passion for rural communities continues to inspire us.
One of the most powerful parts of the day was hearing the stories shared by the women on the panel. Their vulnerability, honesty and courage created an atmosphere where everyone felt seen, understood and connected. There were tears, laughter and many moments of recognition as women realised they were not alone in their experiences. To hear more from these remarkable women, tune into their individual episodes on the Motherland Australia Podcast.
What makes Motherland so special is that it was born from founder Stephanie Trethewey’s own lived experience of rural motherhood. Recognising the isolation that many women in rural and remote communities face, Steph transformed a personal challenge into a movement that now supports thousands of women across Australia. Through its podcast, online community, events and resources, Motherland provides connection, encouragement and practical support for rural mothers navigating the unique challenges of life beyond the city.
The afternoon was a powerful reminder of the importance of connection and the strength that comes from shared experiences. We are incredibly proud to partner with organisations like Motherland that are helping build stronger, healthier and more connected rural communities across Australia.
