Hey question. I am looking at doing a different sort of disco or something similar. If I could make this happen on a weekday during the day time would this be something of interest?

Or to SW's if I could create something else like the disco that makes hitting social goals a little easier would this be good for you to bring your clients on a weekday?

I was invited to speak on Not another PD podcast.

Here is the blog with some info on the chat and the podcast which has some pretty good info for people in the sector

Links to the audio and video podcast are on the blog

Not Another PD Podcast Gold CoastI met Jazmin Pursell at one of our networking events and she invited me to be on her podcast. Quite nice for someone with imposter syndrome to have a professional like Jazmin request their brain to be put on display. Same as what I do with my clients -- help them to....

I've been running these groups for a while.

I started these groups after finding out one of my 1:1 PT clients with ASD had never had a real friend, never been invited to birthdays and had nobody to invite to his own besides family

He is still a part of our groups and he now has friends to invite to his bdays, and he goes to theirs

I now focus on using fitness as an 'excuse' to get people together and make it easier to be social.

As our group has slowly grown I have seen it is not just him.

We all need to know someone besides our family who likes us, is happy to see us and we can have fun and be ourselves around

Our Eagleby group meets on Thursdays at Eagleby Neighbourhood Centre at 345pm

While my background is fitness my clients have taught me the social side is the priority and fitness became more about teamwork, games, confidence and learning social cues together

NDIS funding is accepted, but you are welcome to join even if you don't have NDIS funding

Come along for a free trial and see if it is as comfy as I say :)

Just fun and games ?

no ... i mean ... thats what the boys remember but theres more

how do you help a kid with low confidence ... would having a safe game where he is not only allowed to but expected to attack work?

how do you help a kid that never really wants to participate with others ... would making it fun or a real life version of online games help?

how would you help a kid be active that really dosnt want to exercise ... would a game make it seem less like exercise?

oh... and there is the proprioception, spatial awareness, timing, focus, motor skills, hemispheric integrarion, bilateral movement, being outdoors the list goes on ... so it is more than just fun and games ... but they come back for the fun, games and friends

If you have met me or read what I've put up before — please read this too.

After speaking to a few people in the industry recently, I realised I needed to do a better job of explaining what it is I actually do — and why it might matter to someone you care about or support.
This one's for allied health professionals, coordinators, parents, and participants. Five minutes. Worth it.
