"Supports immune health." Sounds great, right?

But what does that actually mean?

Supplement labels are designed to impress you. Words like "supports," "aids," and "promotes" are legally permitted claims that don't require conclusive evidence of results.

Here's what to look for instead:

→ Is the claim about a mechanism (something happening inside your body) or an outcome (a specific, measurable change)?
→ Is the ingredient itself backed by evidence for your condition?
→ Can the promised result actually be measured?

If the label can't point to a clear outcome, it's letting your imagination fill in the gaps.

Swipe through for a 3-second filter you can use next time you're standing in the supplement aisle.

Save this for later. Tag someone who needs to see it.

When clients start drinking less, we look at more than just the number of drinks.
Sleep quality, energy levels, blood pressure, heart health, and long-term risk all matter too. Small changes can lead to meaningful improvements, and that’s worth checking in on.

Sleep tracking has made a lot of people aware that they're sleeping badly. It hasn't done much to tell them why.

A wearable can show you a pattern. It can't tell you whether what's behind that pattern is your blood pressure, your weight, your stress load, something structural like disrupted breathing, or just the hour you're getting to bed.

That's the part a clinician works through with you. During a comprehensive health assessment you'll spend an hour with our medical practitioner going through your full history and your results together, and sleep is part of that conversation. Where it's warranted, a sleep study can be arranged as an additional test.

Restorative sleep is one of the six pillars of lifestyle medicine that sit behind every action plan we write.

There's a lot of nonsense in the wellness aisle at the moment. Fibre is the rare thing that's both trending and true.

The part that surprises people is that you don't actually digest it. It passes straight through to your gut bacteria, who get to work on it, and what they produce ends up doing jobs elsewhere in your body. Helping regulate your immune cells, for example.

The rest of the evidence is quietly impressive. People eating the most fibre live longer than people eating the least, and the sweet spot sits somewhere around 25 to 29 grams a day. Most of us are nowhere near that.

The fix is unglamorous and cheap. A tin of chickpeas costs less than your morning coffee and gets you halfway there before lunch.

Swipe through for the full three, and where to start this week.

Creatine is one of the most studied supplements going, and somehow also one of the most argued about.

A lot of the arguing is about the small stuff. Hot water or cold. Loading phase or not. Whether the timing matters. Meanwhile the bigger questions get less airtime, like who the research was actually done in, and how much of it applies to someone who isn't a young male athlete.

We've written it up properly. What the evidence covers, where it thins out, and what's worth raising with your doctor before you start anything.

Strength training has had a very good few years in the wellness conversation, and some of that is deserved. Muscle mass and grip strength come up a lot in the research on ageing.

The thing is, so does cardiorespiratory fitness. And balance. And how well you move. These get studied as separate things, which suggests they're doing separate jobs.

So the more useful question probably isn't whether you should be lifting. It's what your current routine isn't touching at all.

We've written up seven different types of exercise and what each one is actually for. Link: https://oraclehealthcare.com.au/best-exercise-for-longevity-is-strength-training-enough/

The most important health insights aren't always visible.

While many people focus on what they can see—weight, fitness, appearance—some of the most complex systems influencing health operate entirely out of sight.

Your gut microbiome is one of them.

Microba's advanced microbiome testing provides a detailed analysis of the microorganisms that make up your gut ecosystem, offering insights that can be considered alongside your symptoms, medical history and broader health assessment.

At Oracle Healthcare, we believe better health decisions begin with a deeper understanding of your body.

Sometimes that starts with looking where you've never looked before.
