Say hello to Tegan! 💛

All the way from Waikerie in South Australia, Tegan brought her physio skills north to join the team here in the Top End. ☀️

She’s been with us nearly 18 months and the team culture has not shone brighter!

She graduated with First Class Honours from the University of South Australia and has worked across a real breadth of areas: geriatric and neuro rehab, musculoskeletal and sports physio, disability and community work, plus Pilates-based therapy and pain management. A GLA:D practitioner trained in clinical Pilates and dry needling, she’s a fantastic addition to the crew. 💪

A few Tegan things:
🍜 Always orders laksa from the Purple Lady at the markets
🥭 Firmly team mango, not paw-paw
✨ Lives by “If you can, you must!”

So happy to have you with us, Tegan! 🎉

Have you met Hannah yet? 💛

She’s been part of the Outreach team for 9 months and we honestly can’t imagine the clinic without her.

Hannah grew up in Perth, but it was 2.5 years in Kununurra that hooked her on the Top End☀️

Hannah is a absolute delight, the rapport she builds with her clients is something special, and she tackles our remote work with a real sense of passion and sense of adventure - heading across the Top End to provide physio in some of our very remote locations.

Her favourite quote “if you can be anything in this world, be kind”. This says a lot about our Hannah!

We’re so glad you’re part of the team.

This week, one of our clients living in supported accommodation in Darwin was able to return to Country for the first time in a very, very long time.

This involved overcoming many barriers and took a huge collaborative effort from an incredible team of people to make it happen safely and successfully.

Our role included transfer assessment, equipment prescription, and training support staff to safely assist with transfers on and off a tiny plane, and throughout the trip and overnight stay.

It’s incredibly rewarding to be part of opportunities like this - helping someone reconnect with family, community, and Country after such a long time away.

Happy Monday! The gym doors are open, we’re ready for the week 💪 Hope yours is a good one!

Oh the places you’ll go…

This week Physio Natalie from headed out to Kintore!

The community of Kintore began in the early 1980s when Pintubi people moved back to their traditional homelands from the government settlement of Papunya. Know locally as Walungurru, Kintore is situated 530km west of Alice Springs in the Pintubi homelands. It is 40km from the WA border.

The community forms part of the Luritja Pintubi Ward of the MacDonnell Regional Council as its population of 454 residents are predominantly Pintubi speakers with a small population of Luritja and some Warlpiri people.

Physio Nat had a ball, she enjoyed the trip out from Alice Springd and meeting her all new clients and the amazing scenery.

✨ Meet Murray the MOTOmed! ✨

The MOTOmed is a motor-assisted cycling device used in rehab and community physio to help people move their arms and/or legs, even if they can’t do it on their own yet.

💡 What makes it so damn good?

It works in 3 different ways:
🔄 Passive - the machine moves your limbs for you
🤝 Assistive - helps you move with whatever strength you’ve got
💪 Active - you do the work and you can alter the resistance

🧠 Who is it for?
We use it with people who have:
Stroke
Parkinson’s or neurological conditions
Spinal cord injuries
Neurological conditions
Post-surgery or deconditioning
Reduced mobility or strength

It’s especially great because you can use it from a chair or wheelchair - no transfers needed.

✨ Why we love it in physio
✔ Improves circulation & joint movement
✔ Reduces stiffness and muscle tone
✔ Builds strength and endurance
✔ Helps retrain movement patterns
✔ Supports early rehab (even when movement is limited)

If you’re keen to find out more, give us a call (08) 7918 0879 or flick through and email [email protected]

👋 Sat G’day to the gantry

This setup allows us to safely hoist and transfer patients onto the neuro bed.

Why it’s useful 👇
• Safer hoist transfers
• More control for both patient and physio
• Set up to suit individual needs

It’s great to have access to equipment like this for therapy at Outreach Physio, and can be just as valuable in the home to support safe and easy transfers.
