💚 May is Mental Health Awareness Month 💚

Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience mental illness each year, and almost half of Australians will experience mental health challenges at some point in their lifetime?

Mental health doesn’t always look obvious. Sometimes it looks like withdrawal, exhaustion, irritability, overwhelm, silence, or someone simply trying their best to keep going.

This month is a reminder to check in on the people around you:
✨ your friends
✨ your partner
✨ your family
✨ your colleagues
✨ your neighbours
✨ and yourself

A simple “How are you really doing?” can make more of a difference than you realise.

And if you’re struggling, please know you do not have to carry things alone. Reaching out for support is not weakness — it’s courage. 🦁

If you’ve been thinking about starting therapy, this could be your sign to take that first step 💛

To book an appointment with Mending Minds Therapy Services, feel free to reach out via Facebook, phone or email. I offer a range of therapy services both in-clinic, online and at home supports.

You don't have to know HOW to 'mend'. Because you are not broken. You just need to be brave enough to take that first step. For a free 20min consultation call: 0457 024 981 or hit the link to book now; https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1Ovgkk4Mt9RR8U_idd2DLT06uQT_8o2P8b8QYlG918L0/edit

Yesterday was one of those days that quietly changes you.

I came to spend the weekend catching up with friends including Ami and her little family. Yesterday, her three-month-old baby girl cried almost nonstop. Unable to settle, clearly uncomfortable. Very out of the ordinary for this little girl. We ended up at the hospital, where things quickly felt very real.

We were rushed in as a Category 2. Everything moved quickly around us. Her heart rate reached 240. Watching that number, I don’t think I’ll ever forget it. There was a rash across her tiny body, her breathing was fast, and for hours, we didn’t have clear answers. We sat there waiting, watching, hoping.

While being triaged, I noticed we were in resus room 4; my angel number. In the middle of all that fear, I felt this quiet calm. Like things were going to be okay. A small reassurance in a moment that felt so uncertain. We were supported. Protected. Keep going.

And Ami stayed calm.

Grounded, present. Asking the right questions, advocating for her baby, holding and soothing her, while carrying what I can only imagine was fear and exhaustion beneath the surface. It hit me in a way I didn’t expect. Just how vulnerable and terrifying motherhood can be.

After hours of monitoring, doctors reassured us everything appears okay, likely reaction to some antibiotics and an overstimulated little nervous system. We’re home now. She’s safe. But the emotional weight of the day is still sitting.

I want to acknowledge Beau, Ami’s husband, working away saving lives as a firefighter. Even from a distance, he showed up in every way; steady, supportive, present. Just as a father should. You can feel the strength of their partnership.

Ami, you are an incredible mother. The way you show up with patience, intuition, strength, and love is something I deeply admire. You make the scary days feel held and safe. And you do it all, with a great big smile on your face! This Mother’s Day (and every day), you are extraordinary.

To all the mums doing the unseen, emotional, relentless work, especially on the hard days, we see you. We honour you. We NEED you!

And Ami… I love you. 🤍

What an incredible weekend in Sydney ✨
Grateful to have attended Dr Bessel van der Kolk’s 2026 Australian tour with .au joining over 7,000 people across the country in a shared space of learning, healing, and curiosity.

A powerful reminder that trauma lives in both the body and mind, and that healing requires more than just insight. It calls for embodied, compassionate, and evidence-based approaches. Across the workshop, we explored:

• The deep physiological & psychological impact of trauma
• The importance of nervous system regulation and embodiment
• Emerging therapies, including psychedelic-assisted treatments
• What becomes possible when we approach healing with openness and curiosity

It was inspiring to witness so many people come together with a shared intention; to understand, to heal, and to grow.

A beautiful collaboration of minds and hearts, with contributions from Licia Sky Tania de Jong AM AM & Benny Holloway bringing depth, creativity and connection to the experience.

In a world that can feel overwhelming and divided, this weekend was a reminder to stay open-minded, conscious, and willing to question what we think we know!

These values deeply align with the vision of Mending Minds Therapy Services and I’m so grateful to have been part of the experience. One that felt not only educational, but truly meaningful.✨

April… we see you. We need you.
We’re stepping in; loud, awake, ready! 🦁

If this only just feels like your beginning… good.
If you’re still in the thick of it… even better.
Because this isn’t about being “there.”
This is about showing up.

Real. Messy. Human.

We don’t arrive - we survive!
We rise. Again. And again. And again.

No delays. No falling behind.
Just timing that’s yours.
You’re not late.
You’re right on time.

Let’s go, April.
Let’s get honest.
Let’s get loud.
Let’s get to work! 🫡

Anyone who’s spent time in the NT knows the elements can be intense even on the best of days; the build-up, mango madness, wet season storms… it’s part of life up there! But over the past few months, it’s been next level.

From early season cyclones like Tropical Cyclone Fina in November 2025 causing widespread power outages and flooding, to ongoing severe rain events and now more recent systems like Cyclone Narelle.

Remote Indigenous communities have been hit again and again. It’s not just one event. It’s the cumulative impact that really takes a toll.

In light of the recent cyclones and flooding across the Northern Territory, I want to acknowledge the impact this can have, not just physically, but emotionally and mentally as well. While I primarily work online and am still able to support my NT clients remotely, the reality is that many have been significantly impacted through power outages, limited access to internet, and even being unable to safely return home due to road closures.

One client recently had to cancel her session (for the second time), and stay in a nearby hotel after becoming stranded and unable to get home to her family. It’s a reminder that even when support is available, accessibility and safety come first! The emotional impact of these disruptions is very real.

Experiences like these can bring up stress, overwhelm, anxiety, or even delayed emotional responses… and that’s a completely normal human reaction. ❤️

To support those affected, I’m offering free therapy sessions for NT clients during this time. This is simply a space for you to:
• Process what you’ve been through
• Regulate your nervous system
• Feel supported without pressure

There is absolutely no expectation. Just support if and when you need it. If this feels like something that could help, you’re welcome to reach out via DM, book through the link in my bio or call 0457024981 ☎️

When completing your referral form, use code “SUPPORT NT” to automatically receive free online therapy.

⚠️If you’re not in the NT:
-Please help by sharing this post.
-A simple share helps increase awareness and can connect someone in need of support they may not have known was available.
-Social media has the ability to reach people who might otherwise feel isolated, helping them feel seen, supported, and less alone during times like this.
-Check on your friends/family and pay it forward to the best of your capacity!

Take things gently right now. Support matters 🤍

COMMON SENSE WISDOM FOR POSITIVE MINDSETS 🧠

Be disciplined with money. Live well-within your individual personal financial, capacity.
Listen more, talk less.
Love and care more.
Get organised. Always be on time.
Strive for excellence, not perfection.
Don’t make excuses. Don’t argue.
Go an entire day without criticising anyone.
Be kind to all people. Be kind to unkind people.
Let someone cut-in ahead of you in line.

Stay calm.

Know when to keep your mouth shut.
It’s okay to be wrong and make mistakes. Apologise!
Stop blaming other people.
Admit when you make a mistake.
Promptly return everything you borrow and say thank you.
Do something nice and avoid getting caught doing it.
Give unwanted clothes to charity.

Be humble.

Cultivate good manners. Give respect to others.
Be the light to illuminate darkness around you.
Realise and accept that life isn’t always fair.
Live in the present, go with the flow.
Don’t sweat the small stuff.

It’s all small stuff.

Strive every day to be a better human.
Be grateful and gracious.
Take some time to be alone & enjoy the peace and quiet.

Relax often.
Everyday, take a 30 min walk for healthy exercise and for de-stress therapy.

’Twas the night before Christmas, the year nearly done, 🎅🏼
A moment to pause and reflect on what’s won.

On growth, on courage, on healing made true, 🦁
And the deep gratitude I feel for all of you.

As the year softly ends, we take time to review,
Filled with brave conversations and healing breakthroughs too. 🫶🏽

Tinsel on the tree, 🎄reflections in my mind,
This year has been full; healing, growth, and time.

I love what I do, it fills up my heart, ❤️
And none of this happens without you playing your part.

To my clients, my people, my village so true,
Thank you for supporting me while I support you.

Grateful beyond words for each soul I’ve met,
For the trust, the courage, and more steps to still take yet! 🐾

As we rest over Christmas and welcome what’s new,
MMTS pauses now, a reset is well due!

Closed until 5th Jan, then supports will return,
With care, compassion, and space to learn! 🧠📚

Here’s to rest, renewal, and a brand new start, ☄️
Carrying gratitude forward, straight from my little Lions heart.

So here’s to the new year, fresh starts, and care,
Feeling grateful, grounded, and so very aware ✨

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year,
Megs 🤍✨
