Your Zen Mama
My heart is so full. đ¤
Today, a piece of my story has been published by Your Zen Mama, and itâs incredibly special to see these words out in the world.
This article was born from my own experience of spending 8 weeks in hospital trying to keep my twins safe, followed by 2.5 months navigating the NICU and Special Care, all while living away from home. It also comes from over 10 years of supporting people as a myotherapist, witnessing the profound impact our nervous system has on both our physical and emotional health.
If youâve ever felt like you should be coping better⌠if motherhood has left you feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, anxious or disconnected from yourself⌠I wrote this for you.
My hope is that it reminds even one mother that she isnât broken or failingâher nervous system may simply still be protecting her.
Thank you, Your Zen Mama, for creating a space where these conversations matter. It truly is an honour to contribute. đ¤
Iâd love to hear what resonates with you if you have a read.

âI remained on high alert. I slept lightly, listened constantly, anticipated danger, prepared for worst-case scenarios, and carried the invisible mental load of motherhood with a determination that I mistook for strength. I continued to function. I continued to care for everyone else. But underneath it all, my nervous system was operating as though there was still an emergency unfolding. And if youâre reading this as a mother who feels constantly exhausted, overstimulated, anxious, reactive, numb, overwhelmed, or physically unwell, I want you to know that there may be nothing âwrongâ with you.ââŁ
