We're hiring: Casual Support Workers, Bendigo & surrounds 💙

Unique Care Support Services is growing, and we're looking for support workers who show up for people.

We need people who stay calm when things get hard, lead with respect and see the person first.

Ideally, you'll have some or all of:
✔️ Trauma-informed experience
✔️ Knowledge of mental health and disability
✔️ Experience supporting behaviours of concern
You don't need to tick every box. If you've had some exposure to complex clients and you're willing to learn, we want to hear from you. We'll support you to grow.

The essentials:
✔️ Availability for sleepover shifts and alternate weekends
✔️ NDIS Worker Screening Check, current First Aid, a driver's licence and your own car

Support Coordinators: ever wondered what actually happens after you send us a referral? Here's the whole journey, no black box.

The first 24 to 48 hours:
- Enquiry lands (phone, email or EOI)
- Same-day acknowledgement, no silence
- Initial screen: yes, no, or "yes but tell us X"
- Detailed intake form
- Feasibility check: can we roster it safely?

Getting it right:
- Your Care Coordinator is allocated
- We meet the participant, a two-way fit conversation
- Plain-language agreement, signed before supports start
- Onboarding: support plan, risk assessments, staff matched and briefed
- Supports begin, with constant communication

No black box. No silence. You always know where your referral is up to.

A good news story we just had to share. 💙

Last week, one of our participants and his support worker (SW) were greeted by two big dogs while out in the community. The SW completed a quick risk assessment, and once everything was safe, the two dogs gently approached and settled right at the participant's feet. He patted them happily for some time. 🙌

As anyone who knows him would understand, this is a huge milestone, because he has been petrified of dogs.

It's a real testament to the trust he has built: feeling safe enough in his SW's company to face something that has always frightened him.

The courage was all his. His team just got to stand beside him for it. ✨

Sometimes the most caring thing we can do is say no. 💙

We could say yes to every referral. Fill every shift. Always look available and busy.

But if we can't support someone safely and well, saying yes would only let them down.

So we pause, or decline, when the support sits outside what our team is trained for, when the funding won't cover what's truly needed, or when we couldn't staff it without a rotating cast of strangers. Your person deserves familiar faces.

A "no" is rarely the end. Usually it's "not yet", we just need one more thing to do it properly.

We don't fill shifts for the sake of it. We build the right support, or we're honest that we're not it.

Support Coordinators: the fastest way to get a real answer from us is a referral with the full picture.

Here's what lets us say yes, no, or "yes, but tell us X", usually same day. Because you and your participant deserve no silence.

What helps us say yes:

- Clear funding for the supports requested
- Location, hours and the pattern of support
- An honest description of needs, including the hard parts, and worker preferences
- Any behaviour support plan, restrictive practice authorisation or health-care plan
- Who the decision-makers are, and why the participant is looking for a new provider

What slows us down:
- Vague needs
- Missing funding detail
- Complex needs raised late
- No consent yet to share information

We'd rather tell you honestly what we can and can't do than take a referral we'd have to staff with a rotating cast.

One of the questions families ask us most:

"What happens if our regular worker can't come?" 💙

It's a fair worry. Consistency is everything.

So we plan for it before it ever happens. At your very first meeting, we talk through what you'd want if a worker became unavailable, so your wishes are already known, not figured out in a scramble.

On the day, we're told straight away through our On Call service, then we talk with you. We don't just send whoever's free. We offer a worker we genuinely think fits, or we adjust the time so your regular worker can still come. And we can introduce a familiar backup ahead of time, so there's always someone you already know.

A change in worker shouldn't mean a change in how safe you feel. Keeping that steady is our job, not yours.

If a provider has let you down before, trusting a new one feels like a lot.

We get it. So we don't start with a shift. 💙

Before UCSS supports anyone, we meet properly first. It usually begins with a short phone call, then a meet-and-greet wherever you feel most comfortable: your home, our office, a café, or a video call. Around an hour.

You choose who's there. We talk through who we are (a family-owned business), your support needs, routines, interests and goals. And we listen for the quieter things too: do you feel comfortable, respected, genuinely in control?

We're proud of how we match workers, so before you meet anyone we'll share a profile of the person we think fits. You'll know we listened before anyone turns up.

Because the right support doesn't start with a shift. It starts with feeling understood.

As of today, 1 July, we are proudly Unique Care Support Services Pty Ltd, a registered NDIS provider.

You'll also notice our look changing. We've had a rebrand and a bit of a facelift, but rest assured, we're still us. Same team, same heart, same people you know and trust. Not a single internal change, just a fresh look to match this exciting new chapter.

Becoming officially registered is a milestone we're incredibly proud of, and it means we can continue supporting our community with the same care and commitment you've come to expect from UCSS.
