Did you know that women are twice as likely as men to have their health concerns dismissed by a doctor?
Twice as likely to be told it is all in your head.
And this becomes especially painful when you start navigating the choppy waters of menopause.
Menopause marks the end of a woman’s reproductive years.
It typically happens between the ages of 45 and 55 but changes in your body can start as early as age 40.
Feeling overwhelmed.
Triggered for no reason.
Forgetful.
Sleeping poorly.
Periods becoming irregular.
Weight gain
And so much more.
The primary cause is the natural decline in estrogen and progesterone.
Genetics and medical interventions can play a role too.
But no matter what is driving it for you, the symptoms are real, and they deserve real support.
Common symptoms include hot flashes and night sweats, irregular periods, vaginal dryness, sleep disturbances, weight gain and a slower metabolism, mood swings and memory problems, decreased libido, brain fog, hair loss and thinning skin.
All of this can leave you feeling vulnerable and powerless.
So today I want to hand you back some power.
At the Purple House Wellness Centre we have been helping women through this transition since the year 2000.
We do not believe in masking symptoms.
We go to the root cause.
And when it comes to menopause, the root cause almost always comes back to the same basic foundations.
Minerals.
Hydration.
Good fats.
A working liver.
A healthy gut.
And a body free of toxins and parasites.
Let me walk you through exactly what we recommend.
Hydration and Minerals
This is foundational and it is so often overlooked.
Drink one litre of water for every 30 kilograms of your body weight every day.
Add a quarter teaspoon of pure Himalayan salt to every litre.
We know there is controversy around Himalayan salt, but we have used it for 25 years and our clients do incredibly well on it.
It does not carry the microplastic pollution that so much sea salt does today.
We have had clients come to us with terrible liver readings on their blood tests, purely because they were dehydrated.
Once we get them drinking properly, their liver readings return to normal.
So please, before you panic about a blood test result, make sure you are properly hydrated first.
Magnesium
Magnesium helps with stress reduction and hormone regulation.
Start with 200 to 400 milligrams a day and adjust from there.
Here is a simple rule of thumb.
You will know you have had enough once your bowels start to loosen.
That is your tolerance limit.
Iodine
The whole world is iodine deficient.
This is not opinion, it is documented fact, even in government reports.
It is a huge issue here in Tasmania, and across Australia, and honestly around the world.
Your glands need iodine to make proper hormones.
We recommend molecular or colloidal iodine, starting with 5 drops a day.
Boron
Boron is a trace mineral that supports bone health and hormone regulation.
It also helps clear heavy metals and lift brain fog.
Combined with magnesium, it helps prevent osteoporosis.
We have had clients reverse their osteoporosis and their menopausal symptoms at the same time, simply by being consistent with this.
Take a couple of good pinches of boron in water each day.
Liver support
Your liver is responsible for breaking down your hormones.
If it is not working properly, hormones build up in your body and wreak havoc.
In a woman’s body, hormones do not stay steady the way they do in a man’s body.
They shift day to day.
Which means your liver needs real support.
We recommend Beetflow and Omnizyme to keep everything moving through properly.
Gut health
Your gut is classified as your first brain.
Around 80 percent of the messages your brain receives actually come from your gut.
So gut health is brain health, full stop.
Your brain physically changes shape and structure during menopause.
MRI scans have shown this.
But your brain is simply responding to what is happening in your gut.
Support your microbiome with a good quality probiotic such as Immuno-Synbiotic, Syntol or Spore Probiotic.
Add fermented vegetables like kimchi and sauerkraut, and drink kefir or kombucha.
And please be mindful of hand sanitisers and wet wipes.
These are endocrine disruptors that go straight into your skin and damage your gut microbiome.
The same goes for many mainstream makeup, skincare and deodorant products.
Your skin is your largest organ.
Treat it like a mouth that is wide open, because that is exactly what it is.
Parasites
This one surprises people but it is so important.
Everyone has parasites today, and they release toxins into your body that settle in your weakest link.
Brain fog is very often caused by parasites and candida.
Do not be a walking worm farm.
Support yourself with a proper parasite cleanse alongside your other supplements.
Good fats
Aim for at least three tablespoons of healthy fat every day.
Butter, ghee, coconut oil, macadamia nut oil, or the fat on your meat if you eat meat.
Do not trim it off.
Your hormones are made from cholesterol, so healthy cholesterol from healthy fats is protecting your hormone production, not harming it.
And please, steer clear of seed oils.
Canola and all those yellow oils sitting in plastic bottles on the supermarket shelf became mainstream in the 1950s, and they are hormone disruptors.
This does not just affect women.
We are seeing more and more men struggling to sustain an er****on, and seed oils are a huge part of that picture too.
Anna’s Wild Yam Cream
This is one of our favourites.
Rub it on the reflex point for your reproductive system, which is just below your ankle bone on the inside of your foot, in that little hollow spot.
You can also rub it on your breast tissue or the inside of your arms.
Do this every single day for the next few years to support healthy hormone balance.
Men benefit hugely from this cream too.
If the man in your life has symptoms of low testosterone, mood swings, lethargy, nothing excites him anymore, trouble sustaining an er****on, encourage him to rub it directly on his te**es.
Share this with the people you love.
When your partner is in a good mood, it lifts you too.
Avoid hormone disruptors
Steer clear of toxic oils, harsh personal care products and unnecessary plastic use wherever you can.
These small daily choices add up to a big impact on your hormones over time.
Energy medicine and your chakra system
Here is something most people do not realise about menopause.
Your chakra system is your master system, and it directly energises every one of your hormone producing glands.
When we work on your chakras through energy medicine, your hormone production can shift right there on the table.
People feel it instantly.
Sometimes they cry a little.
Sometimes they feel a tingling moving through their whole body, or a real opening up of energy flow.
It is powerful, and it is available to you.
Rest, because you have earned it
I want to say something to you that I say to every woman who walks through our doors in this season of life.
Menopause is a warning sign from the universe.
It is the universe asking you, can you please make yourself the priority now.
You have spent years giving to everyone else.
Now it is time to put yourself first.
Here is a beautiful way to think about rest.
You deserve one week in bed for every ten years you have been alive.
If you are 50, that is five weeks.
If you are 60, that is six weeks.
I am not saying you need to literally spend that time in bed, but imagine giving yourself permission to properly switch off.
Close the door.
Make your space beautiful.
Tell everyone you are offline.
Rest is not indulgent.
It is owed to you.
And remember this.
Your body is completely new, more often than you think.
Your liver renews itself every eight weeks.
Your skin is never older than about six weeks.
Your neural pathways and even your bones are replaced roughly every twelve months.
Your body has an incredible capacity to heal itself when you give it what it actually needs.
If you follow these recommendations, and you get your iodine and minerals right, brain fog can genuinely disappear within ten days.
I make that promise from the bottom of my heart.
Swap high sugar and high carbohydrate foods for a good high fat diet, and your body will thank you.
Your metabolism will start to restore itself too.
You do not have to work this out alone
Everyone’s story is different, and everyone’s root cause is different.
That is exactly why we offer a Full Health Audit, where we test what is really going on for you and get to the root cause rather than just managing symptoms.
We also offer Diagnostic Sessions and Tune Up sessions with energy medicine, working directly with your chakra system to bring your hormones back into balance.
We have helped thousands of women regain their health, their sanity and their confidence.
