Our wonderful Caz has had the opportunity to take part in music therapy through Bayview House, part of Peninsula Health’s Mental Health service, located at Rosebud Hospital.

Music therapy has given Caz a way to put how she’s feeling into words & a song, because sometimes it can be much harder to sit down and simply say how we’re feeling. Music can give us another way to express the things that are difficult to explain out loud.

Music therapy can be such a powerful tool for emotional expression, communication, confidence and connection, while also creating a safe and creative space to work through what’s going on.

We’re so grateful for the amazing team at Bayview House who go above and beyond to provide different ways of supporting people when they need it most & giving Caz this opportunity to use music as her form of expression ❣️

We’re so proud of you, Caz. Creating songs that may help others through the tough moments life throws at us, and showing that we can come out the other side stronger, is something really special 💘

Our series continues with little reminders of why we do what we do ❣️

Never underestimate the power of reminding someone that what they’re doing matters. Sometimes the impact of our work (or any work) can be hard to see or feel, so having someone acknowledge it can mean more than they realise.

Our beautiful Caz reminds us of this every day. Through her little drawings, notes and messages, she has a way of making our weeks that little bit brighter. Even if she does insist on calling Nellie an emu 🤣

It’s these little moments that make our day and remind us exactly why we do what we do ❣️

We just wanted to take a moment to shine a little extra spotlight on one of our participants, Cory 🦋

We wanted to celebrate Cory and wish him the very best for his birthday!

Here are some photos of how we celebrate birthdays at You Choose Support, which include of heading out for cake, enjoying a nice lunch and really soaking up those special moments together

We also wanted to give Cory a big shout-out and let him know just how proud we are of him. We love seeing him continue to choose to show up for himself, keep moving forward and embrace the moments along the way. It’s something we truly admire.

We also want to acknowledge Cory’s amazing support worker, who gets to walk alongside him throughout this journey. We’re incredibly proud of the support, connection and teamwork they continue to build together.

Cory, we hope you had a beautiful birthday and know just how proud we are of you. We’re so thankful that you chose You Choose Support to support you along this journey ❣️

Homelessness Week, 2026 💚

We acknowledge the thousands of Australians experiencing homelessness or living without safe, secure, and stable housing.

Homelessness is more than sleeping rough. Many people are living in temporary accommodation, couch surfing, or staying in unsafe situations because they have nowhere else to go.

Together, we can raise awareness, challenge stigma, and advocate for a future where everyone has a place to call home.

Every person deserves dignity, support, and the opportunity to thrive 💚🌸

Don’t get us wrong - support work, like any job, comes with its challenges. There are tough days, unexpected moments, and times that test us.

But over the last few weeks, we’ve been reminded of just how much beauty there is amongst it all.

Here’s a little glimpse into some of the moments we’ve shared with our participant Caz ❣️

Cafe visits to encourage community access and support our participants to get out and about, even on the days they didn’t really feel like it.

Op shopping to encourage sustainability and show that you don’t always have to spend big to find something special.

Getting creative with what’s already in the cupboard (yes, even quince paste!) because we value making the most of the food that’s been donated instead of letting it go to waste.

Beach visits because slowing down, listening to the waves, and spending time in nature can be incredibly calming and meditative.

Making vanilla slice… simply because we can! Sometimes the best moments come from doing something fun together.

While these activities might look like fun from the outside, they’re always intentional. Every outing, every recipe, every conversation and every experience has meaning behind it - building confidence, independence, connection, wellbeing, and creating moments that truly matter 💛

Taking a moment to stop and reflect 🌸🦋

When we started this Instagram page, we didn’t really have a plan. We simply wanted to share the incredible work we have the privilege of being part of every day and celebrate the people who make it all possible.

Today we’ve reached 400 followers. That number might seem small to some, but to us, it’s something we’re incredibly proud of. It means 400 people have chosen to follow our journey, support our mission, and celebrate alongside us.

This milestone belongs to so many people.

To our amazing participants who show up every day with courage, determination and authenticity. Thank you for trusting us to be part of your journey.

To our incredible support workers, allied health professionals and everyone behind the scenes. Thank you. For the care, the passion and dedication you bring every single day.

And to every single one of our followers we say thank you. For cheering us on, engaging with our stories and believing in what we do.

Here’s to growing together, creating more opportunities, and continuing to choose connection, community and inclusion.

Here’s to 400… and everything that’s next 💘

Sometimes all it takes is a small reminder ❣️

Life gets busy. Whether you’re a parent, a partner, a friend, a caregiver, or simply navigating the everyday chaos of life, it’s so easy to keep moving from one thing to the next without stopping to remember why you’re doing it all.

This year has felt like it’s flown by. Through all the highs, the challenges, and the moments that test us, we can lose sight of the impact we’re making.

Then, something like this arrives.

A beautiful card from a client who is navigating challenges of their own, yet still took the time to express their gratitude. It’s a simple gesture, but one that reminds us exactly why we do what we do.

And the truth is, this isn’t just about work. It’s about life.

You never know how much a kind word, a thank you, or a handwritten note might mean to someone. It could be the very reminder they needed to keep showing up.

So today, if someone has made a difference in your life whether it’s a family member, a friend, a teacher, a colleague, a support worker, or anyone else - please take a moment to tell them. Your words might mean more than you’ll ever know.

This is the first post in a new series of little reminders about why we do what we do❣️💘🌸🦋

Five Questions For Nellie - Our Mental Health Support Worker ❣️🦋

One of the beautiful things about life is that every experience has something to teach us. Even the moments that feel difficult, disappointing, or ‘bad’ often hold valuable lessons.

Those lessons can help us grow, build resilience, gain perspective, and better understand ourselves. While we wouldn’t choose every challenge we face, the insights we take from them can shape us into stronger, more compassionate versions of ourselves.

In this edition of Five Questions For Nellie, she quickly shares her thoughts on finding her own lesson this year & why embracing the lessons within our experiences can be such powerful reminders 🌸💖❣️

To some, art is a creative space where ideas flow freely. To others, it might not feel like their thing at all, and that’s okay too. But for many people, art can also be a place to slow down, feel calm, and simply switch off from the busyness of everyday life.

On this day, our participant shared that they were craving a little more slowness in their life. We thought, what’s a better way to pause, sit still, and be present than through art? So that’s exactly what we did.

Together, we explored poetry, and the benefits were incredible. It wasn’t about being an artist or creating something perfect. It wasn’t about talent or getting it “right.” It was about giving our participant the opportunity to step into a safe, calming space where they could be present, process their thoughts, and slow down.

Creative activities like art can help quiet the mind by gently shifting our focus to the present moment. They encourage mindfulness, reduce stress, provide an outlet for emotions, and can give our brains a break from the constant rush of everyday life.

If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed or like life is moving a little too fast, consider picking up a paintbrush, pen, or pencil. You don’t need to create a masterpiece, sometimes the simple act of creating is enough to help you breathe, reset, and reconnect with yourself 🌸🦋💘
