Movement can support mental health in powerful ways.

Depression affects both the mind and body: energy, sleep, stress, motivation, and even physical tension. Exercise isn’t about punishment or perfection. It’s about helping your nervous system regulate, reconnecting with your body, and creating small moments of momentum.

Even gentle movement counts. A short walk, stretching, yoga, or strength training can all support emotional wellbeing over time.

Start where you are. Small steps still move you forward.

Therapy helps your mind, but it also supports your body.

Stress and emotions don’t just stay in your head; they can show up as tension, fatigue, and even digestive issues or gut discomfort. As therapy helps regulate the nervous system, the body often begins to settle too.

Healing is whole-body work.

Stress isn’t just a feeling. It’s a full-body experience. When stress becomes chronic, it quietly impacts your immune system, heart, digestion, and mental health.

The scary part? It often builds up without obvious warning signs.

The good news is that awareness is the first step. Small changes like better sleep, movement, and therapy can help your body recover.

Can’t sleep? Your mind might be running on stress instead of rest.

When cortisol stays elevated, it can keep your body in “alert mode” long after the day is over, making it harder to fall asleep, stay asleep, or wake up feeling rested.

Sometimes the problem isn’t your bedtime, it’s what your stress hormones are doing in the background.

Rest isn’t just about closing your eyes. It’s about letting your nervous system stand down.

Calm isn’t something you wait for. It’s something you practice.

Your mind and body are deeply connected. When one feels overwhelmed, the other follows.

Try these 7 simple ways to support both mind and body, and gently return to a sense of calm.

Your breath, posture, gut, and nervous system shape how you feel before you even notice.

You can’t always think your way out of stress, but you can shift your state through your body.

Start simple:
Slow your breath
Unclench your jaw
Drop your shoulders

Notice what changes.

We’re looking for someone special to join our team 🌿

As Centred Wellbeing continues to grow, we’re looking for a warm, capable and highly organised Remote Receptionist / Administration Officer to support our clients, families, referrers and clinicians behind the scenes.

This role would suit someone who is thoughtful, emotionally mature, efficient and kind - someone who understands that being the first point of contact in a psychology practice is about much more than admin. It’s about helping people feel welcomed, supported and safe from the very first interaction.

The role includes supporting enquiries, bookings, referrals, billing, documentation, clinician communication and day-to-day practice administration.

We’d especially love to hear from someone who has experience in reception, administration, client services, medical, psychology or allied health settings, and who feels confident working with care, discretion and initiative in a remote or hybrid setting.

If you know someone who is organised, grounded, warm, and would be a beautiful fit for our team, please feel free to share this with them.

Stress triggers a full-body response designed to protect you, but when it sticks around too long, it can start to wear you down. From a racing heart to rising cortisol levels, your body is constantly adapting to pressure.

Understanding what’s happening internally can help you manage stress more effectively and support your overall wellbeing.

The gut–brain axis is your body’s hidden communication superhighway.

Your gut and brain are constantly “talking” through nerves, hormones, and immune signals. This means what happens in your digestive system can influence your mood, stress levels, sleep, and even thinking. And your brain can also affect digestion.

Key players in this connection include the vagus nerve, gut microbiota (the trillions of bacteria in your intestines), and neurotransmitters like serotonin - much of which is actually produced in the gut.

That’s why factors like diet, stress, sleep, and antibiotics can all have an impact on both digestive health and mental wellbeing.

It’s a powerful reminder: taking care of your gut is also a way of taking care of your mind.

Motherhood isn’t always soft moments and sleepy cuddles. Sometimes it’s heavy, lonely, and a lot harder than anyone admits.

On May 6 it's Maternal Mental Health Day and we're talking about the real, unfiltered experiences of mums everywhere. The quiet struggles, the unseen tears, the strength it takes to keep going. The overwhelm. The guilt. The mental load that never really switches off.

If that’s you, you’re not the only one. And you don’t have to push through it on your own.
