Chat between our ‘Scarfiee’ and ‘Hoodie’
(Environment Impact on Health and Neurological Conditions)
Hoodie: Wow, you look colourful!
Scarfie: Thanks! I am a climate change scarfiee. My creator Reverend Josephine Snowdon (Josephine Snowdon) said that the colour represents global temperature changes throughout the years since 1960. With deep blues and whites below average, and red & purples above the average.
Hoodie: I see, I joined the 2026 Parkinson’s research Symposium in Melbourne last week. The scientists and researchers said ‘ Parkinson's Disease is the result of Industrialisation!’ , ‘Dementia is the No.1 cause of death in Australia’ - We constantly exposed in the environment that contains harmful things like PFA… (chemicals that harms neurons)
Neurological conditions seem to be upcoming pandemic in our modern era! ‘There are about 40 people diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease every day in Australia’. By 2040, researchers estimate that over 12 million people worldwide will be living with the condition.
Scarfie: OMG! What can we do about it???
Hoodie: Clearly, we need to be aware of the need to care for the ecology and the creation we have been gifted by our mother EARTH.
Movement with Music seems to be particularly helpful. Researchers looked at the effects of 11 types of physical activity, found that only one of the activities studied – dance – lowered participants’ risks of dementia according to Harvard Medical School article.
Scarfie: Cool. I am going to join the Moving Freely & Brain Health (Moving Freely & Brain Health) Movement with Music Program on 29 April, 2:00PM – 3:00PM at Gisborne Uniting Church (23 Brantome Street, Gisborne VIC 3437)
There are more upcoming sessions in Gisborne and Woodend - Please keep posted.
