After many, many, MANY months of going back and forth about whether to keep my office space or move everything back home, Iāve finally made the decision⦠Iām moving my business back home. And the garage renovation has officially begun! (This is just vinyl sheeting, itās just flattening before adhering tomorrow) There were so many things I loved about having a separate workspace from home, which is probably why it took me so long to make this decision. But right now, this just makes the most sense for me and my family.
Having young kids means I want to be able to work around our life a little more. When theyāre home from school or on holidays, I can still get things done without having to drag them to the office and bring all their things. If I need to catch up on something late at night, I can just walk into the garage and work. It gives me so much more flexibility and, at this point in my life, I think thatās exactly what I need. I also feel like I really need this change personally and creatively.
The last 6 to 12 months have been a lot. It felt like one negative thing after another kept happening, both in life and in business, and without really realising it, I became so focused on everything that was going wrong, it was draining. Instead of feeling excited about creating, I was constantly thinking about the next problem I needed to fix, the next thing that had gone wrong, or what I needed to worry about next. Somewhere amongst all of that, I feel like I lost a bit of the spark Iāve always had for the business, and I really do want that back.
I donāt want to keep focusing on everything that has gone wrong. I want to put my energy into what I can actually change and start feeling excited about creating again. So maybe a completely new space is exactly what I need. ā¤ļø
