Legacy Week - What’s it all about

In the trenches of the Western Front during World War I, a soldier said to his dying mate “I’ll look after the missus and kids”. This became known as The Promise – and it is still kept today.

Some 60,000 Australian service personnel were killed and more than 150,000 were wounded, many dying soon after.
Originally, it was returned servicemen who took this duty of caring for and supporting widows and children. They later became known as Legatees. To this day, it is the Legatees who volunteer the support that Legacy provides to its beneficiaries.

Legacy is still caring for tens of thousands of widows who have lost their loved ones and been affected by their partner’s service in the Korean War, Malayan Emergency, Vietnam War; as well as campaigns in Iraq, Afghanistan and in peacekeeping operations across the globe.

Incredible effort from the North East community supporting Legacy Week - thank you 💕

A quick nature recharge between the school bus drop off and an upcoming week of important stuff.
Wellness is often pitched as the big things - things that take time, effort and often with a decent price tag.
It can be that, it can also be making the most of a simple moment💚
Hope your coffee is strong and your idiots few🤣☕️
Have great week.

💚 Plot twist: The Bubble might never go national.

And… we’re actually very okay with that.

A few years ago, when The Bubble made it to the national finals of the Telstra Best of Business Awards, one of the judges seemed a little stuck on the fact that we hadn’t expanded beyond Tasmania.

At the time we remember thinking…

Mate. We’ve been open for about five minutes. 😂

We’d already opened TWO clinics at opposite ends of the state, built a multidisciplinary women’s health service from scratch and were caring for thousands of Tasmanian women.

But there was this underlying idea that to be really successful, the next step had to be Melbourne. Sydney. Brisbane.

Bigger. More. National.

And we’re calling bu****it on that a little bit.

Why can’t a Tasmanian business be wildly successful because it stays Tasmanian?

The Bubble is:

💚 Tasmanian founded and owned
💚 Women-led
💚 Independently run
💚 Not part of a giant corporate medical group
💚 Built specifically around the healthcare needs of Tasmanian women

We make our decisions here.

We employ people here.

We spend money with other Tasmanian businesses.

And we keep building services here so Tasmanian women don’t have to cross Bass Strait to get the healthcare they deserve.

Could we open on the mainland one day?

Sure.

Do we need to in order to prove we’ve “made it”? Absolutely not.

And actually, if another Bubble ever pops up somewhere…

👀 North West Tasmania, we’re looking at you.

Because there is still SO much we want to do in our own state.

Tasmania doesn’t have to be the launching pad before you move on to somewhere “bigger.”

Tasmania can be the whole bloody point. 💚

And we’re pretty damn proud to be building something for the women who live here.

Do you care for a veteran?

Veterans may be any age or gender and can experience a range of complex health issues. Many also face difficulties adjusting to changes in their lives, which can create additional pressures for those who care for them.

If you care for a veteran, remember that you don't have to navigate it alone. Carer Gateway offers free services and supports to all carers.

A small favour from Our Mate-Ship…

We understand that not every event can be shared through every veterans’ network, which means some people may not hear about the opportunities available to them.

If you can see this post and know a veteran, family member or mate who may benefit from connection, adventure and time among good people, please send them our way.

We offer a variety of activities, including sailing, fishing, boating, equine experiences, retreats, workshops and more.

We respect the important work being done across the veteran community and believe we are strongest when people know about all the support and opportunities available to them.

Please follow and share our page, or visit:

We often get so busy in life, we forget to make the important things important.

An opportunity to relax and enjoy a spectacular location. Delicious meals, a warm and comfy bed, with the possibility of seeing the Aurora Australis.
Time to explore, have fun with nature and equine based activities, focusing on wellness. Evenings around a campfire, under the clearest skies, sharing laughs with others that understand service life and its challenges.

Why come along to our partners retreat - why not?

This is a peer led program, where lived experience is respected and valued. You won’t find any of the following around our campfire:
🔴Marriage or relationships counselling
🔴 Medical advice or promotions
🔴Judgment of your lived experience
🔴Trauma unpacking

You and your partner are sure to find:
🟢Fun
🟢Relaxation
🟢A safe and respectful space for connection
🟢New perspectives on wellness
🟢Easy tools and resources
🟢Supportive staff with Tri- service and community experience
🟢Equine interactions (no riding).

We look forward to seeing you around the campfire.
