Oliver’s Birth Story ✨
Shared with permission from one of our hypnobirthing mums 🤍

At 5pm on Sunday, right on 40 weeks, her birth story began quietly. She went to the toilet and felt a small “pop,” brushing it off at first. In the shower, she noticed a little fluid and wondered if her waters had begun to release.

By 4am, she woke to wet underwear, and again at 6:30am. After calling maternity, she and her partner headed into the hospital, where monitoring showed irregular surges and a happy baby on the CTG. Although admission was offered, she chose to return home to allow labour to start, even going for a walk around the zoo to encourage things along.

By 4pm, with little change, they returned to hospital where she was admitted.

That evening, the induction process began. After two doses to soften her cervix, her waters fully released at 6am, followed by her mucous plug. Surges started but were still irregular, so they moved into the birth suite and created a calm, supportive environment; dim lights, music playing, and a diffuser to set the tone.

By mid-morning the following day, surges intensified with the hormone drip. She used gas for pain relief, breathing through each wave. Around midday, feeling strong pressure, she agreed to a cervical check only to find she was 4cm. Feeling defeated, she began begging for an epidural.

Her partner gently reminded her that this wasn’t what she had planned and encouraged her through it, offering reassurance and strength when she needed it most. It became a powerful reminder of how much a support person can shape the birth experience.

Instead, she chose pethidine, which allowed her to deeply rest between surges for a couple of hours.

She stayed focused, repeating her mantra: “floppy f***y, floppy face.”

Not long after, everything shifted. She felt the urge to push and a check revealed she was already 8cm. As she got up to move, her body began involuntarily bearing down.

Within minutes, she was fully dilated.

Just 6 minutes later, her beautiful baby boy, Oliver, was born into her arms at 40+2... Continued in comments

Baby Harry’s Birth Story ✨

Shared with full permission.

This is one of those birth stories that reminds you just how powerful, intuitive and beautifully unpredictable birth can be…

This beautiful journey comes from one of our hypnobirthing clients, who spent her pregnancy intentionally supported with acupuncture, counselling, nutrition, a doula, and hypnobirthing, building a strong foundation of trust in her body and her baby.

For context, during pregnancy she was advised induction at 39–40 weeks due to high blood pressure and IVF. She made an informed decision to decline and instead chose close monitoring, going on to labour spontaneously at 40+4.

Labour began gently at 7am with period-like cramps and some bleeding. Instead of rushing, she leaned in resting, nourishing her body, watching Netflix, and soaking up oxytocin at home (including cuddles with the family dog who provided comforting licks to the belly).

By the afternoon, surges were steady but manageable. She even encouraged her partner to go out for the afternoon fishing, trusting her body and enjoying quiet, inward-focused time.

As evening fell, labour deepened.
By 6–8pm she had moved into bed, breathing through stronger surges, staying calm and grounded.

By 10:30pm everything shifted, surges intensified rapidly, moving from 6 minutes apart to just 2 minutes apart. Her body was opening quickly.

Her doula arrived just in time.

10:45pm- her waters released
11:05pm- baby’s head descending
11:14pm- head born
11:17pm - Baby Harry was earthside

Caught by his dad and brought straight to mum’s chest.

He arrived calm and quietly, taking in the world before letting out his first cries, then moving instinctively to the breast.

The placenta was born naturally soon after, intact.

Although mum experienced some dizziness post-birth and was transferred to hospital for monitoring, both her and Harry were well cared for and recovered beautifully.

7 pounds, 49cm of pure magic

This birth is such a powerful reflection of:
– informed decision making
– trusting the process
– staying home and supported
– the role of oxytocin
– how bodies are beautifully designed & capable of giving birth

Welcome Harry ❤️

Aurora’s Birth Story ✨

With Freya, I had the most beautiful low-risk water birth at 39 weeks. Naturally, I imagined Aurora’s birth would unfold in a similar way — a peaceful home water birth surrounded by familiarity and calm.

In the weeks leading up to her birth, I kept feeling like labour was starting… and then it would fade away. This happened over and over again. I started noticing a lot of intrusive thoughts creeping in — something many women experience when pregnancy stretches beyond the expected timeline.

One thought kept returning: that Aurora might have an unstable lie. Some days she felt breech, other days transverse, and sometimes I’d feel hiccups down low and think she must be head down again. Despite this, her movements always reassured me and she was head down at term. She felt happy, strong, and active. I knew she had space to move and trusted that she would find her way.

In preparation for birth, I spent a lot of time doing bodywork — acupuncture, affirmations, hypnosis. Every night I would talk to her, telling her she was perfectly positioned for birth and that we would meet each other soon.

The night she arrived started in the most beautiful way. Alex came home and lit a fire because Freya had been begging for a picnic under the stars. We made hot honey camembert over the fire and shared a little grazing dinner together outside. It was such a simple, special moment as a family — the perfect oxytocin boost.

A few hours later we went to bed, and Freya woke during the night and crawled in beside us. Right at that moment I felt a big, unusual kick deep into my pelvis. I remember saying to Alex, “That didn’t feel like a head…”

When I stood up, my waters trickled onto the floor. It was about 3am.The first thing I noticed were movements and clear fluid, which felt reassuring. In the bathroom, more clear fluid came — along with a fully formed meconium stool. I sent a photo to my homebirth midwife and she recommended we head into hospital to be checked.

In that moment I knew my homebirth plan was changing. I also had a strong feeling Aurora might be breech. It was emotional letting go of the birth I had envisioned, but... Continued in comments

✨ Why invest in hypnobirthing? Let’s chat about it, mumma-to-mumma.

Birth can feel overwhelming, but it doesn't have to be. Hypnobirthing is about reclaiming your power, learning to trust your body, and understanding how to stay calm, even when things don’t go to plan. It’s not just breathing techniques – it’s a full mindset shift.

When you invest in hypnobirthing, you’re investing in YOU. In tools that support your body’s natural instincts, in reducing fear, and in preparing for a positive birth (however that looks for you). You’re also investing in your baby’s gentle, peaceful welcome to the world

You deserve to feel empowered and nurtured! Ready to take that step? DM us to find out more about our upcoming classes with Chelsea!
