I am not usually one for publicly sharing my opinion however, in clinic this week there have been many conversations about the recent Four Corners episode “Scarred.”

Watching it for myself brought up anxiety as a women living with endometriosis and having had a laparoscopy surgery.

The brave women who spoke up in the episode were already living with pain. Already navigating endometriosis, pelvic pain, impacting quality of life & put their trust in this medical professional. They underwent aggressive & in some cases unnecessary removal of reproductive organs during surgery. It’s devastating, life-changing and fertility altering. In some cases pain worse than before the surgery.

When women seek care for pelvic pain, they are often desperate. In a vaunerable position and trust the opinion of there medical professional to 'do no harm.'

Its devastating this trust was broken in the case for these women

If you’re feeling unsettled after watching & the conversations around it you are not alone 🫶

Reach out to trusted friends and family for support 💗 Seek support from a counsellor or psychologist. You can also contact Lifeline on 13 11 14 or text 0477 13 11 14.

In Chinese medicine, fertility is closely linked to warmth, circulation and a sense of safety in the body.

That’s why warmth isn’t just about food 🍲 It’s also about how we move, rest, and relate to our bodies.

In Chinese medicine, the uterus thrives in an environment that feels safe, nourished and well-circulated. When there’s too much cold, stress or depletion, the body often prioritises survival over reproduction. Which makes sense.

A few simple ways to support warmth on a deeper level:
✨ Gentle movement to encourage blood flow (walking, yin yoga, stretching)
✨ Regular meals so the body doesn’t slip into “conservation mode”
✨ Warm hands on the lower belly. Connect in a loving way to the womb space 🫶
✨ Rest without guilt (this one matters more than we think)

This isn’t about doing everything.
It’s about meeting your body where it is, with warmth and care 💗

Creating a “Warm Womb” a Chinese medicine perspective 🌿

In Chinese medicine, warmth is essential for healthy circulation and reproductive function.

When the body & especially the lower abdomen is cold, blood and qi don’t move as freely. It may lead to painful periods especially pain that benefits from warmth like hot water bottles. Dark & clotting menstrual flow, cold hands and feet. Feeling the cold easily (I get this might sound strange in a heat wave 🥵)

Simple ways to support womb warmth when trying to conceive:

✨️ Choose mostly warm, cooked foods e.g. - soups, stews, congee, lightly cooked vegetables
✨️Reduce icy drinks and excessive cold/raw foods
✨️ Keep the feet and lower abdomen warm. The reproductive acupuncture channels Kidney, Liver & Spleen all begin in the feet
✨️Avoid prolonged contact with cold floors or sitting on cold surfaces
✨️Gentle movement and warmth help encourage circulation to the uterus
✨️ Avoid swimming when on your menstrual flow 🩸

A warm womb isn’t about forcing heat. It’s about creating an environment where the body feels safe, nourished, and supported. Allowing the circulation, qi & blood to flow freely.

Fertility care in Chinese medicine is always individual, but these small, consistent practices can make a meaningful difference over time.

Breaking the Silence for Endometriosis Awareness Month 💛

Endo Diary: Suprise!! 🎉 Woke to day 1 of periods. Silently hugging 🫂 abdomen for comfort. Feeling like a Mack truck has driven right over your body & head 🚚 Period pain thats hard to manage, cramping & twisting, pain down legs, headache & fatigue.
Difficult for others to understand & feels uncomfortable for them to see you this way. So often suffer in silence & feel isolated. Still have to get up & do life.

Everyone's experience is different & every menstrual cycle can be different. Its not a 1 size fits all condition.

I see you, I hear you 💛🎗
