Mindful Walking Changed Everything for Me

After my breakdown, something as simple as walking at dusk quietly changed my life.

Back then, I couldn’t just “go for a walk.”
For nearly the first kilometre, my mind was convinced I was about to black out.
Adrenaline surging. Cortisol flooding my system.
Every step felt like danger.

Instead of fighting it, I learned to walk with it.

No music.
No distractions.
Just slow steps, cool evening air, and gentle awareness of my breath, my body, the ground beneath my feet.

At first, it took almost a full kilometre before my nervous system realised:
“I’m safe.”

With repetition, that distance shortened.
The panic eased sooner.
My body re‑learned calm — not through logic or force, but through lived experience.
