The ARC-LI Study

The ARC-LI Study ARC-LI is one of the largest studies of its kind examining the markers of cognitive and cardiovascula

One of the major challenges associated with Australia's aging population is the increasing incidence of age-associated cognitive decline, which has significant implications for an individual’s ability to lead a productive and fulfilling life. The maintenance of brain health underpinning intact cognition is a key factor to maintaining a positive, engaged, and productive lifestyle. In light of this,

the role of diet, supplementation with nutraceutical and even pharmacological interventions that are capable of moderating the neurocognitive changes that occur with age constitute vital areas of research. The Australian Research Council Longevity Investigation (ARC-LI) was developed to examine markers of health and aging in 60 - 75 year old Victorians. We are seeking volunteers in good general health* who can participate in this study. Participation involves 4 sessions at our Centre for Human Psychopharmacology at Swinburne University in Hawthorn. Participants partake in computer activities, questionnaires about health and lifestyle, and some immune, genomic and cardiovascular measures. Participants will also take a daily supplement of any one of the following:

Bacopa monnieri
French Maritime Pine extract
Micronutrient/mineral complex

Sessions can be scheduled at your convenience over the enrolment period. Supplements are FREE and participants are reimbursed a small fee for travel expenses ($100.00). For information or to take part, please contact the Study Coordinators:
