Fathers Day - we wanted to go and have a quick bite while getting a tree, Mitre 10 Kingston - great idea bringing parking closer to the cafe but not accessible parking (that’s actually fine because it’s pretty level!) but the step and size of the gate! Chair didn’t fit even if we tried to lift up. And couldn’t even leave feedback 🤷🏻‍♀️

We’re traveling tomorrow so may see more posts as we experience yet another joyful airport pass through.

Here we go again! Can we book accessible accommodation?

Oh yes but we only have a 1 bedroom apartment and can’t accommodate a child unless you book a separate room …

Ummmm he’s 4 … do you have a 2 bedroom apartment that is accessible or allow a roll out bed in the one bedroom?

No … not wheelchair accessible and that’s against hotel policy

Okay so disabled people can’t have a family?

Best part the interaction from people asking him to show off his dance moves!

Massive shout out to the staff who went above to ensure a comfortable space and safety!

THE GRIPE
- having to spend a minimum 45+ minutes to make a reservation
- to have to REPEAT everything EVERY-TIME you make a booking
- and heaven forbid you pay in one transaction
- medical equipment isn’t actually free on a light fare … unless you argue

And that’s generalized - each airline then has its own issues.

- Qantas you have to PAY for a special companion card, because the Nationally recognized Companion card doesn’t suffice (village cinemas does the same…)
- Virgin Aus you get a discount on the base fair for the carer but you have to pay each fair independently
- Jetstar, no discount, pay extra for bags, and carry on saga - not discounted

Solution Proposal

- heaven forbid on our frequent flyer cards, you can detail our requirements …

- which would then integrate to an easy booking online

- lithium pre approved is noted on your booking so we don’t have to have it approved at check in, at security and while boarding!
