We would like to share and support a cause that is very close to our hearts.

GP Collective's very own Dr Ian Hoyle’s daughter, Sarah, is raising funds for brain cancer in honour of her mum, who sadly passed away 10 years ago.

Sarah will be riding her horse from Latrobe to Dover, while Dr Ian will be completing the journey by e-bike alongside her.

This is an incredible effort for a deeply meaningful cause, and we are proud to support Sarah in raising awareness and funds for brain cancer research.

"When I was younger, Mum and I had planned to ride our horses along the Tasmanian Trail together, but it never eventuated,” says Sarah.

In 2016, Sarah’s mum Ginny was diagnosed with glioblastoma and, within a week, had undergone surgery and sadly passed away. It happened incredibly quickly and completely took their family by surprise.

“Coming up to nearly 10 years since her passing, I’ve decided I’m ready to sit with that grief and honour her by completing the ride myself.”

Over 4–5 weeks, Sarah will ride the full 480km trail from Devonport to Dover — mostly solo — with her two horses, Juno and Legacy. One will be ridden and the other will carry supplies, as she camps along the way and remains completely self-sufficient.

“Fittingly, Juno is Legacy’s baby, making this a mother–daughter ride, which feels incredibly special and meaningful,” she says.

“This ride is in Mum’s honour and to raise funds and awareness for those affected by this awful disease. I truly hope that through this journey we can help move closer to a cure.”

Today we celebrate the incredible role our Blooms the Chemist pharmacists play in keeping our patients and team healthy. From providing expert advice on medications and treatments to ensuring we have all the vaccinations we need for our upcoming holiday, pharmacists are a vital part our healthcare team.

With locations at Nyrstar Hobart Smelter and Derwent Park, this role provides the opportunity to deliver proactive, meaningful workplace health services while working within a supportive multi-disciplinary team.

We are looking for -
▪️ Registered and/or Enrolled Nurses (AHPRA registration essential)
▪️ Previous experience in occupational health, workplace assessments, or workplace injury management (preferred but not essential)
▪️ Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with patients, employers, and stakeholders
