๐Ÿ“šโœจ What a wonderful week celebrating Book Week with a "Symphony of Stories"! โœจ๐Ÿ“š

Our school was filled with creativity, imagination and plenty of colourful characters as students and staff dressed up as their favourite book characters. It was fantastic to see everyone's enthusiasm and love of reading on display.

Lots of creative costumes on Junior campus with a great story time time in assembly led by our very own Wizard Simon.
Our senior students brought along their favourite books to share with others, sparking conversations, recommendations and a shared appreciation for great stories.

Thank you to our families and staff for supporting this special event and helping make the day so memorable. We hope these photos capture the joy, creativity and excitement that Book Week brings to our school community.

It's not always smiles in Orange Class, but we do always find something to smile about each and every day! Enjoy some smiles from our Orange Class students, and remember some advice from Dolly Parton: "If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours!".

We have continued to enjoy the Ochre Education shared reading units in library this term. Together we have learnt new vocabulary, learnt about narrative and information texts and answered questions to show an understanding of a topic.

This fortnight in Kitchen Garden we are continuing our winter warmers with tomato soup with baguettes, creamy risotto and rich beetroot brownies.
I was served some soup and baguettes today for lunch and I must say it was scrumptious - our students are great cooks! (Lou R)

Access to Story Box Hub at Home

Just in time for Book Week, we are excited to share with families that all students at Southern Support School have free access to Story Box Hub through our school subscription.

Story Box Hub features engaging video readings of more than 700 popular children's books, read aloud by authors, illustrators, actors, and other storytellers. Families can enjoy stories anytime, anywhere, and explore extra learning activities linked to many books. The collection also includes a selection of stories presented in Australian Sign Language (AUSLAN).

How to access Story Box Hub:

โ€ข Online: Visit the Story Box Hub website StoryBox Hub | Home and select School Login. Search for Southern Support School and sign in using our school credentials which are available in your SeeSaw stream or from your class teacher

โ€ข App: Download the Story Box Hub app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, then log in using the same account details.
We encourage families to explore the Story Box Hub library together, discover new favourite books, and celebrate the joy of reading during Book Week and beyond!

Hello from everyone in S Yellow class.

Every day we have somewhere to visit around school. Last week our Art class was held in the Art Room. We often have our art classes in our classroom and in our courtyard, so this was a new place to explore.
First, Art was shown on our daily timetable. We looked at which activities would be happening before and after Art. Then we watched a video of the walk to the Art Room. It was a new location for our class. Watching a video of the walk there showed us that it was in the same building, just passed some familiar rooms.
At Art class time, we stood straight up and excitedly journeyed to new lands. After eagerly rushing through the door we found tubs of joining items to sculpt, tables of shapes and lights, a small adventuring tent, and several stations set up for creating.
After investigating the Art Room, we walked back to our classroom. Some of us took the time to sit quietly and reflect, while others were still very excited. This visit was a lot of fun!
