September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. ๐ŸŽ—๏ธ

I've been thinking about whether I should say something.

I could tell stories about childhood cancer. About suffering, trauma and death. Those things are real, and they are part of what happened to our family.

But right now, I don't want that to be the story I tell about Elenna.

Because that's not Elenna.

Elenna was so much more than the cancer that happened to her. And I don't want the most traumatic parts of her life to become the things people remember most when they think of her.

Right now, I want to focus on the love that is still here.

I want to focus on the beautiful signs that make me think of her. The moments that stop me in my tracks. The little coincidences that feel far too meaningful to me to simply brush aside. The ways I continue to feel connected to my daughter, even though that connection looks completely different now.

I still talk to her. I still look for her. I still include her in our family. I still say her name.

I am still Elenna's mum.

Childhood cancer is part of her story, and I will always want better for children and families facing it.

But cancer doesn't get to own her story.

For me, Elenna's story is still about Elenna.

And right now, I want to share the beautiful parts โ€” including the ways I believe she continues to remind me that love and connection don't simply disappear. ๐Ÿ’›

Today was hard, beautiful, emotional and important all at once. ๐Ÿ’—

Seeing Elennaโ€™s face carried proudly on the front of this truck for Convoy for the Cure meant more than I can put into words.

Thank you to Tayla and the DF & DL Drain Transport team for honouring Elenna so beautifully and allowing her to be part of something so special. Seeing her banner on the front of your truck was incredibly moving for our family. ๐Ÿ’•

Thank you also to everyone involved in Convoy for the Cure, The Cure Starts Now, the truck drivers, sponsors and supporters who continue to show families like ours that our children are remembered.

Our beautiful girl. Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever changing lives. ๐Ÿฆ‹

Our beautiful Elennaโ€™s story was shared today in Burdekin Life during her birthday month as part of our 86K for Kids with Cancer challenge.

Thank you to Jacob from Burdekin Life for taking the time to share her story and help raise awareness for childhood cancer. ๐Ÿค

If youโ€™d like to support our 86K challenge, the donation link is in the comments.

Late last year, young Burdekin local Elenna Savorgnan sadly lost her battle with brain cancer at just three years old after a valiant, year-long fight. Now, in what would have been Elennaโ€™s birthday month, her mother Maria is honouring her memory by taking on the 86K for a Cure challenge, carrying...

Taken far too soon at age 3, after battling Medulloblastoma. Elennaโ€™s family travelled long distances for her care, showing unimaginable strength and love.
We honour Elenna and all children whose journeys inspire us to keep supporting families when they need it most โค
