š¢ NDIS BILL UPDATE
The Securing the NDIS for Future Generations Bill passed the Senate on 18 August 2026 with amendments.
Because the Bill was amended, it must now return to the House of Representatives before receiving Royal Assent. This means it is not law yet, and changes will not happen overnight.
What could the changes look like in practice?
š¹ Unscheduled plan reassessments
Stronger, up-to-date evidence may be neededāfor example, evidence showing the loss of an informal carer, a recent hospital discharge or a new health and safety risk.
š¹ Provider records and claims
Providers will face tighter requirements around service notes, invoices, agreements, communications and evidence that supports were delivered.
š¹ Future plans and budgets
Budget and eligibility changes will be introduced progressively. Some changes may apply when a participantās plan is renewed or reassessedānot immediately to every current plan.
For now, participants should continue using their existing plans and supports as usual unless contacted by the NDIA.
Iāll continue following the official updates and sharing the information in plain English as more details become available.
